Not Ellie,

This review is from: Incurable: Library Edition (The Ellie Chronicles) (Audio CD)
I have listened to all the books in this series. They are great when driving to & from work & I couldn't wait for this one & Circle of Flight. What a disappointment! Not the stories, the narrator. Suzi Dougherty, to me, was Ellie. Mikaela Martin sounds like a soft little girl, not our fierce, strong, capable Ellie at all. I will continue to listen but the series has been spoilt for me.

I have to agree with the previous review. The narration in this audiobook is not as good as the previous 8 books in the series. Suzi Dougherty's narration matched the character John Marsden wanted to portray perfectly, not only that but her enthusiastic voice was easy to listen to, you could take in everything she said without concentrating too hard. Mikaela Martin's narration however does not portray the character at all, she is too softly spoken, too girly considering Ellie is supposed to be a tomboy farmer. Not only that though, I have to concentrate while listening to the book. I will continue to listen to the series because I don't want to stop at the last book, I've enjoyed John Marsden's novels too much, but I have to be honest and say that the last two books, Incurable and Circle of Flight, will not be the greatest experience.
