Good, but not as good as their other albums IMHO...,

Sorry, you all can cream in your jeans over this record all you want, but their other albums where guitarist Bruce Stuckey was the lead singer (EVERY album after this one, in fact!) I've always liked more: "Kill By Remote Control" (2nd LP), "Bullets For You" (4th LP), "Dedication 1979-1988" (5th LP) (which is NOT a "greatest hits" compilation as some people have said!), and the import only "Anything For Money" (6th LP) (which IS available on CD unlike the others!) are all superior albums IMHO. Toxic Reasons are my favorite punk band of all time... I should know : )

All This And More...,
This review is from: Independence (Audio CD)
Hi Teri M., The song you are remembering is "Revolution?" and it's on the album "Kill by Remote Control". Steve W., it's good to see that you are still alive and out there somewhere, hope all is well with you and yours! Toxic Reasons were relentless trailblazers on the road, and were often the first Punk band to play at many of the cities they visited on their frequent coast-to-coast US and Canada tours. Everyone who was there in the "Independence" days knows that you had to see this band to believe it. This recording shows a glimpse of the expolsion that was a Toxic Reasons live performance. Even after a hundred shows I was still amazed...

The Boys Are Back In Town!,

What can I say? Not only is this a classic of it's time, it quite literally defines the time. The passion and energy that the Toxics delivered with each live performance put them in a class of their own. Only D.O.A. can be mentioned in the same breath. These guys were not just my friends, they were my brothers. I desperately miss you guys, and hope that each of you have found the success that you so richly deserve.

Question for other Toxic Reasons fans,
By
This review is from: Independence (Audio CD)
I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone could answer this for me... There was a song with lyrics: "Punk rocker. What's it mean to you. Mean to me. Is it a revolution? Not as far as I can see" or something to that affect. Does anyone know the name of that song or which album it came out on?

Not only is this a danged good disc, but I actually found it - brand new - at that store that sells everything for 99 cents ( can't say the name here) - along with D.O.A.'s "War on 45 " cassette.... whaaa??Anyhow, I had these guys on a few comps in the early 80's but never had this album. The album has a rough-edged approach which, if it were to be released these days, would be labelled "streetpunk" - akin to what bands like Oxymoron are pulling off now, but 20 years before its time. The only place where this recording falters is in the slowed down, reggae-tinged tunes like Ghost Town - these boys were listening to a bit too much Clash, and the results are a bit grating. All in all, though, a nice slice of seminal punk-ola.

1. They know how to write a punk song. 2. Their name doesn't with a number. 3. No girl songs. 4. The're not whiney. 5. Beer is mentioned at least once, meeting my quota.

This is a very Good Punk-Indie Record. It sounds very badly produced but somehow I like it. Here in Germany the Toxic Reasons aren't very well known but I listened to this CD randomly and it became one of my favorites for the next two weeks. The Best songs are Ghost Town, Riot Squad and War Hero

Great album, Rob is right,

This one of those albums that I listen to everyday, or did whenthey were playing the S.F. area. Really strong punk music done very well. The lyrics are social/political and do not tell you how to think. One of the most approachable S.F. bands, they really believe in what they sing. Tuffty, Bruce, Rob, and...my mind betrays me, were great in the mid 80's. I saw every show I could. A definite 5 star band that talked the talk and walked the walk. If Rob is correct, find this used at your local used store or find the website so the $$$ go to the artists. Ghostown is a classic.

In the early 80's, these guys: Tuffty, Bruce, Rob, and...memory fails me was the most approachable punk band in S.F. They sounded great and they had a heart about social and political issues w/o telling you how to think. If Rob is correct about this being a no royalty rip-off, go to your local used store and find an endorsed record copy or a video. Target did a 54 min. video of early stuff. Ghostown was always a favorite, and I tried to see these guys as often as possible in the mid 1980's. Good God we need someone with there sincerety and approachability today. Definitely a 5 star album. Be careful who you are paying it for.
