Biography

Pioneers of the space-rock sound, Hawkwind are probably best known for the track “Silver Machine”. Their regular sci-fi themes featured dystopian futures, a fascination that resulted in occasional collaborations with sci-fi writer Michael Moorcock. They regularly positioned themselves outside of the establishment – and even outside of the Isle of Wight festival when they played on the other side… Read more in Amazon's Hawkwind Store

3.0 out of 5 stars Hawkwind - 'Independent Days,Vol.1-2' (Griffin), October 25, 2004
This review is from: Independent Days 1 & 2 (Audio CD)
From what I understand(heard it from a Griffin rep. myself),'Independent...' was put out MAINLY to prove that Hawkwind could STILL release an 'in demand' title that could compete with the major labels and at the same time still cater to their long-time loyal fans.Makes perfect sense.Lemmy apparently returns to the studio on a few of these thirteen tracks.Tunes that I thought most likely achieved the goal are "Night Of The Hawks",Nik Turner's "Watching The Grass Grow","Kiss Of The Velvet Whip" and the memorable rocker "Kings OF Speed".Pretty much aimed at die hard fans.
