Finally! Someone besides Maurice on the remix!!, November 27, 2000
This review is from: Independent Woman (Audio CD)
Hey kids! So, if you're like me and loved the "Charlie's Angels" movie, then you probably love this song from the film as much as I do. And as good as the original is, it only gets better with the remix. Quick rundown... 1) Album Version - 3:41 - funky and fun R&B, produced by Corey Rooney, Poke & Tone and lead singer Beyonce Knowles. This is the version played in the film, and heard all over the radio right now. 2) Joe Smooth's 200 Proof 2 Step Mix - 4:17 - Joe Smooth (whose name I have only seen once before, on his fabulous mix of Whitney Houston & Deborah Cox's "Same Script, Different Cast") gives us a garage mix that isn't horrific, but it's not great either. The whole 2-Step Garage thing is huge in the UK, but it has yet to find an audience in North America. With such a popular song having a remix as such, this might help bring 2step into the forefront... 3) Maurice's Radio Mix - 3:54 - Your typical Maurice mix. His standard light house mix here. Maurice has been involved in every Destiny's Child remix off of the "The Writing's On The Wall" project, kinda like the Mariah/Morales trend (and each time they work together, the songs get staler and staler, as does this remix). It has an interesting Spanish sound near the middle of the track, but with it being a radio edit, we don't get to hear the rest of that sound... 4) Victor Calderone Club Mix - 9:36 - THIS IS IT!! The best club offering to date from Beyonce and Co.! OH! Does Victor ever work this one to death!! You will be tappin' your toes from the very first beat until you realize that you are movin' every inch of your body by the end of it all! A hard mix that is sure to top the dance charts all over the world! I'm not too sure what is going to be released on the US maxi-single on December 5th, 2000, but if the full Calderone mix does not appear on that version, you had better pick this one up or you'll be missing out on something FIERCE!

A Kid's Review

I just got this for Christmas! Here's the tracks with reviews on every track 1. -Album Version The one on the Charlie's Angel's OST and on the radio! Rating: 5 2. -Joe's Smooth 200 2Step Mix It's not really smooth at all, maybe a bit, but it's more scratchy with a little bit sung over an over again! Rating: 4 1/2 3. -Maurice's Radio Mix Awesome! It has a wonderful latin sound during the middle, and it gives us some house and guitar! What I love about this track is that when the latin music is playing Beyonce says "Get your livin la vida loca on!." Rating: 5 4. -Victor Calderone Club Remix Long, but it's an awesome remix for dancin! Rating: 5 I love this cd, by the way, on the cover, they are wearing braclets and the proceeds go to charity!

Great song plus three fantastic remixes, April 5, 2001
This review is from: Independent Woman (Audio CD)
It's no wonder, "Independent Women" stayed on top of the Billboard Charts for almost 3 months. It's possibly Destiny's Child's best song yet. And this maxi-single is great, too, as it contains some of the best remixes I have heard in a long time. It's even more surprising, that every remix is great. Most other remixes are not as good as the orignal song, and most other CDs contain not more than one good remix. But here we have three remixes, which are absolutely fantastic. They explore three different styles. Joe Smooth's 200 Proof 2 Step Mix is probably the weakest of the three mixes, although it's still great. Victor Calderone's Club Mix just makes you want to dance. The best track is Maurice's Radio Mix. It's really catchy. Usually I only buy albums, but "Independent Women" is a single well worth buying it.

hit song by Destiny's Child! Independent Women is really an inspirational song for girls and women out there. This is no doubt one of the best songs by DC. (Thank you, Beyonce Knowles, for writing this song!)
