5.0 out of 5 stars THIS CD IS A GOOD ONE!!!1
every song that Destiny's Child makes is so good.even though this song is the number 1# song from the CHARLIES ANGLES soundtrack, it kicks a$$.

1) album version. This is just like the one on the soundtrack.

2) victor calderone drum dub. this is just a dub and it is 5:30 long. but not a lot of singing.

3) victor calderone club mix. this song is not that catchy but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Feelin' It.
For every good song Destiny's Child releases, there are at least two duds that follow it. This one, make no mistake, is a dud. These ladies brag about buying houses, cars, and clothes and claiming to be independent. In the world of Beyonce, independence is not a state of mind, but a state of cash flow. Bad message, ladies. But even musically, the song is lacking...

4) MAURICE'S INDEPENDENT MAN REMIX. this is my favorite mix out of the whole cd. this song is like salsa/dance mix it is so good.even though mr. joshua's mixes are allways good. 7:30 long

5) 8 day of christmas. this song is like christmas/hip-hop version of it. 3:29

Well I have to say that Destiny's Child has done it again. There new single Independent Woman is truly awesome. This is one song that is just as good in its original r/b mix as well as in club format. The most notable remix on this single would have to be the Victor Calderone Club Mix. This remix just makes you want to get up and dance. I highly recommend this single to anyone.

These ladies brag about buying houses, cars, and clothes and claiming to be independent. In the world of Beyonce, independence is not a state of mind, but a state of cash flow. Bad message, ladies. But even musically, the song is lacking. Lazy beats and hardly a groove. The kids lapped it up, making it a No. 1 record for ages. DC has made better records; this isn't one of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Destiny's Child...Can they do wrong?, December 10, 2000

Destiny's Child has finally released a retail single of their #1 hit, "Independent Women", in an effort to cash in some more on the song before it's popularity beings to run out. The girls have packed the single with remixes that leave much to be desired, but the single's saving grace is the Christmas B-side. Overall, the CD is ok, thought I would have much rathered "Independent Women Part II" to be a track, like they got on the English CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hands Up In The Air...Women, December 7, 2000

Well, a much-celebrated feminist ditty from the sassy girl-group Destiny's Child, now reduced to 3 but going even stronger than before. Scoring their 3rd US #1 hit (2nd this year) with this tribute to the new Charlie's Angels 2000 film, Independent Women Part 1 does not deal with any new issues that they haven't covered, but it contains a groove and chrous so infectious that it'll get u on the dancefloor within minutes. This much-delayed CD release contains the album version, 2 Victor Calderone mixes and the Maurice Independent Man Mix plus a X'mas song in time for the season's greetings. The Calderone mixes sound pretty good this time round, considering how boring his mixes are usually. What's missing here still is the Joe Proof 2-Step Mix available on the Europe single which is a rather good mix. But grab this if you dun 1 the soundtrack or u've been hearing it on the radio but not having it in the CD player.

Independent Woman by Destiny's Child is a very good song. It is a mix of up beat sounds and good lyrics. If there is a song you are looking this christmas, this is the one to buy.

This single isn't quite worth the money. The remixes aren't all that great and the the original...SAME OLD "I buy my own things", "Buy my own rings", "Don't need any man" type song. Something NEW please! I enjoy Destiny's Child, but come on!

2.0 out of 5 stars How desperate are you?, December 29, 2000

Let me start off by saying that the song "Independent Women" is a 5 star song. Buy this maxi single ONLY if you don't want to buy the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack. That's what I did. I knew that I loved this song that much. Generally I don't like maxi-singles because if you have heard one dance mix, you've heard them all. This isn't an exception. But, I figured buying this over the soundtrack was the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately my CD is in my car, but I can tell you that track 4, which is one of the dance mixes is a great mix. It contains a little Santana-like guitar in the background, and is faster paced. In fact the vocals were redone for this version. Track 5 is a new Christmas song from them called "8 Days of Christmas." It's pretty good. I think these girls can pretty much release a song with them snoring and it would go number one. I am concerned, though. How much longer can they have success talking about no good men and being able to buy what they want?

2.0 out of 5 stars POOR QUALITY, December 18, 2000

The mixes left SO much to be desired. I can't even believe I spent money on this single. Usually I like Destiny's Child but this single is not worth it to me at all.

If you want to hear good remixes, then listen to Mariah Carey's!

I've learned my lesson and will never buy a single from Destiny's Child ever again!

P.s. the main song is good, but all else is trash, hehe
