5.0 out of 5 stars A great distraction!
We bought this book at a toy store and our 6 month old son enjoys it so much we promptly ordered another one. I wouldn't say he's actually appreciating the pictures all that much (yet), but he really likes grabbing the book and gnawing on it; and so far it's holding up well. The book is great. colorful pictures, but it smells really bad. Not sure I want my 11 month old putting it into his mouth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great distraction!, February 5, 2010

We bought this book at a toy store and our 6 month old son enjoys it so much we promptly ordered another one. I wouldn't say he's actually appreciating the pictures all that much (yet), but he really likes grabbing the book and gnawing on it; and so far it's holding up well. The edges curl a little, but he doesn't seem to mind. The pages feel like a tyvek type of material... the same stuff fed-ex packs are made of, but a little sturdier. I usually give him the book when I'm trying to get something done quickly like get dressed or clean up a room and he is perfectly content with the book the whole time. It's a great distraction for now and I have a feeling he'll grow into enjoying it for it's purpose as an actual book!

4.0 out of 5 stars 6 month olds love it!, January 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
My six month old twin daughters L.O.V.E. these books! As other reviewers have said, there are no words and the books are only a few pages, but oh what fun for babies! My girls (one with teeth and one without) love to gnaw on the pages and coat them with drool. These books stand up to everything my kids throw at them (even ripping them from each others' hands; although they don't actually rip). The texture of the "paper" reminds me of post office mail bags, but it's more durable. Also, the books wrinkle due to the drool and grabbing, but they maintain their shape very well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wordless books a baby can't destroy, April 21, 2011
By
Experienced Editor (Illinois, United States) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
"Indestructibles" are a series of wordless books labeled as "chew proof, rip proof, nontoxic, 100% washable." They resemble the canvas picture books of 50+ years ago but adhere to recent toy safety guidelines. "Flutter! Fly!" pictures eleven birds and bugs. "Creep! Crawl!" introduces eleven small creatures on the ground. "Wiggle! March!" features eleven familiar farm animals. All are friendly; some are even smiling. Spider and caterpillar have demure eyelashes, while an earthworm sports sunglasses. In each book, nearly all the animals are looking directly at the reader, which will increase a child's interest in the pictures. The lack of text allows a baby and read-aloud adult to set a comfortable pace, flipping the pages or lingering over individual pictures. Tots will soon have their own favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Indestructable, March 6, 2011
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
My baby has done all she can to ruin this book and so far the book is winning. It takes slobber, tugging and anything else a baby is capable of doing and still maintains its form. While definitely showing signs of aging, the pages don't tear or come apart at all. The texture seems to be great for babies. The pictures are bright and fun to look at and I'd definitely recommend this for babies under the age of 1 since they love to put everything in their mouth. It's also washable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased so far, November 4, 2010

My 7 month old son loves to look at and chew his brother's books. I purchased this book not knowing what my little one would think. He immediately loved it. He does look at the pictures but mostly chews on the pages and waves the book around. The pages are super thin and the book is really light weight. My only compaint is the smell but it doesn't seem to bother him. I will be buying another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for Babies!!, May 28, 2010
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
These books are incredible! Made from tyvek (like the fed-ex envelopes), they're just as the name states - indestructible.

I have a 6 mo who insists on putting everything in his mouth, and that's just what these are made for! Although there aren't any words and only one picture per page, they are very colorful and I don't have to worry about pages being soaked with slobber or being ripped out. Yes they some use over time, but what baby toy doesn't?

4.0 out of 5 stars For little ones..., February 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
I ordered this for my 20-month-old son for Christmas and it certainly is indestructible, but this book is geared toward younger children. It's a great book and I would recommend it for infants and especially for the baby who is putting everything in their mouth, but it won't keep a toddler's attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early Experiences with Books Critical, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
When I met Amy at a recent trade show, I fell in love immediately with these little books. The best part is that they are designed to be explored in many ways, not just the traditional "sit still while I read to you" way many parents envision when they think about reading with very young children -- and they are truly "indestructible".

We remember our favorite books because of the warm and fuzzy feelings we recall and the more positive experiences our children have with books, the better. I see these as a great set of "first introduction" books to use for exploring and talking about the pictures, supplemented by more conventional books and stories as you teach your child how to cherish books. They certainly shouldn't be the only books in your house but they are a great addition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and some bad..., May 26, 2010
This review is from: Indestructibles Creep! Crawl! (Paperback)
The Great: chewing, page turning, indestructible, washable.

The Bad: Babies need contrast and primary colours - unfortunately this book's pictures are very bland. Also it wold be great if it had at least one word descriptions of what was on that page (or a short story).

That being said - my baby loves this as a "toy" and uses it often to chew, flap its pages, crumble and thoroughly enjoy it (without my worrying that he's eating small pieces that have been torn off and soggily swallowed).

I do not know however how non-toxic this is - which is a concern of mine.
