Index Case proves the Midwest isn't useless., August 16, 2006
This review is from: Index Case (Audio CD)
I often buy CDs cheap from third-party sellers because they are cheap, based on the reviews other customers give them.
I have found that Index Case is a very melodic, but just heavy enough alternative metal band. Their singer is very good; he has a good voice, and he gives all the appropriate emphasis. There is some yelling behind the singing on a few of the tracks, which I don't normally consider a plus, but because it is at emphatic moments, and it doesn't dominate the music, I find it refreshing. The musical style of Index Case is in the minor key, with harmonic melodies criss-crossing well. There isn't one song that I don't like, and I would consider nearly half of them to be 5-star songs.
This is one of my top 20 CD's.

"...where do you get off thinking / you're disintegrating!!...", October 21, 2005
This review is from: Index Case (Audio CD)
Index Case are an awesome example of new, modern metal. they use staggering, lurching, twisted tempos and alternate between calm singing and full-bodied, enraged bellowing. These guys were recommended by one of my Amazon buddies! (thanks, dion) and i'm very grateful.
My only problem is the mastering, which for some reason seems a little garbled if you play it too loud (the bass lines and bass drums are very very heavy) But overall, the disc is great, and my favorite tracks are "Listen", "Deserver", "Wounded", and "Fetish". If you're looking for something outside the norm in metal, but not -too- zany, sample these tracks and see for yourself. Index Case is sort of a combination of elements from Tool, with the better aspects of 'nu-metal' thrown in for good measure. Much of the material goes in a kind of dreamy sing-song manner, until the singer flips out and starts to holler, in a very convincing scream, the choruses, all as the band starts to thrash. It's a build-up that satisfies my metal craving, and every track is decent.

Corn Fed Iowa Boys, March 11, 2006
This review is from: Index Case (Audio CD)
Once again Iowa shows its just as messed up as anyone else, by producing another band who can touch the darker side of rock. Since Slipknot's success, Index Case (a band thats been around almost as long as Slipknot) finally releases their brain child. I've met the band on numerous occasions because they grew up only 30 minutes from my home town. Right now they seem to be having alot of personnel problems. The guitar player and singer are both still there, and if you listen to the cd its obvious they are the most talented forces.
One chink in the armor, Joe's live vocals cannot reach the pinacle they do on the album. Despite all their negative traits as of present, I still think this band could go places in the rock world. Don't expect these guys on your nearest CLEAR channel radio station but they are definetly worth a hear irreguardless of your taste in music. Check it out. 5 star rock.
Songs I suggest hearing first.
"Listen" "Between US" and "Perfect Season." however all the songs on the cd are of equal quality and depth.
