About the Author

John Howley was born in the USA and grew up in Atlantic City, which is one of the most visited tourist towns in the world. For a few years he lived and worked part time in a hotel that his mother managed. He studied to be an accountant at Drexel and Rutgers University. He became a member of ISKCON, to study the Vedic (Indian) scriptures and to learn about the culture of India in 1977.

He spend over eights years in India, much of that traveling around India, and has been virtually from one end of India to the other, both north to south and east to west. He nows resides full time in India in Vrindavan, 120 miles southeast of Delhi, and spend four months a year traveling around India.

There very few good books that cover the entire Indian subcontinent, and this is one of them. The information is broken down by States and Cities and has detailed instructions on how to find the best hotels, where to eat, and what to see in each place. I've lived in India for two years and can only recommend this book as an excellent, practical book for anyone traveling there.
