India Tree Candied Violets

Come on--you know you want this! What could be more decadent than candied violets? Harems, seraglios, well-kept women, luxury unbound! When I think the world has a personal grudge against me, I just put a couple of these on top of my cottage cheese and voila! I am, once again, at the height of my powers!

The candied violets were a delight. The quality exceeded my expectations.
The order was shipped sooner than promised. We were pleased.

I ordered these to use in decorating a wedding cake, but did not use them. They also took a very long time to arrive - after the wedding in fact! They taste good, but are not very pretty. I'm sure they'd be fine for something else, where the fact that they look more like raisins than flowers is less important! I generally love India Tree products.

I bought these for decorating a lemon trifle, and they are perfect: the purple contrasts well with the lemon yellow of the trifle, and they add just the right crunch to make the trifle interesting. They are a very dark purple, almost black, and so the contrast when using them for decorating chocolate cake is not as good. One warning: there are very few in a packet, and they are virtually impossible to separate into smaller bits, so you quickly get through the packet. But they are delicious. And they add that essential je-ne-sais-quoi to my desserts.
