It is in black and white, a minor problem for just doing the designs off the pages. But I solved that problem by coloring them in. There are 3-5 designs on most of the pages, not all really Native beadwork but well worth the price for ALL the designs for LOOMERS! It is hard anymore to find a book with so many loom ideas and this one is FILLED with them. Ther are a few small mistakes in a couple patterns but nothing worth complaining about. This is not an instruction book! Be warned you need to know how to do beadwork to use this book. Photo copy the pages so you can work on colors of your own choosing other than the ones offered if you don't like the combinations. It is a book you can get use out of for years!

There's an enormous variety of seed bead patterns in this book, but they are all for loom or square stitch, no peyote/comanche stitch or brick stitch. I like the book enough to keep for if/when I ever venture into loomwork, but there's nothing I can use now.

The good & the bad.....,

The Good:
This book is great if you want a LOT of designs....55 pages of bead loom designs alone, not including the bead appliqué. It doesn't waste your time with instructions, so know how to use a bead loom! Love the variety of patterns-it has a lot of Indian beadwork patterns, that aren't all from American Indians. *more details below* The Bad/my frustrations with it: I went through coloring ALL 55 pages of the black & white patterns in this book...& wish the author had done the same. There are a multitude of errors. Some are minor, but some are major like bead color codes that either aren't on the color legend...so you don't know what to color them. You can *usually* figure it out if the color code was somewhere on the page or in the same series of designs. But sometimes you have to be a bit creative...not a problem if you desire to use different colors. Note that the title of the book is *Indian* beadwork designs. Not Native American Designs (if that's what your looking for). It has more of a Meso-American feel. Note to any "Ancient Alien" Theorist bead loomers out there...some of the depictions of people/things are seemingly not of this earth. Also, I wish there were notations on what tribe/area the designs came from. There is no source, but I'm sure that the designs are authentic because I've colored other boos with some of the same designs. Overall, mixed about the book

This is not what I expected or what I wanted. It is all black and white and very difficult to work the patterns from.

I haven't gotten into bead weaving yet but the designs have given me a lot of inspiration for other beading projects that I have in mind.

Big Book of Indian Beadwork Designs (Dover Needlework Series)I have worked a few of the designs and liked them. I found two mistakes on the fourth design on page 5. I guess it wasn't tested before publication. I found this annoying, and will not buy any more books by this author.
