It's a combination of two albums - India 2000, and another, whose name I forget. It's the title of an album devoted to Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Awesome music, typical of Dr Subramaniam.

I ordered this product because I like Ravi Shankar and other world music and I thought that L. Subramaniam would sound a lot like that traditional-sounding East Indian music. I was surprised to find out that L. Subramaniam (at least as represented by this CD) is more of a fusion/jazz artist. Many of the musicians he appears with here, are in fact jazz oriented (Maynard Fergerson & Hubert Laws). Although I always liked jazz, I never got into the more "electric", "fusion" or "new age" type sounding jazz. This CD is all of those things plus some of that traditional East Indian feel. It is also quite "funkified". Given an even chance, this CD is quite nice, and Dr. Subramaniam is quite a remarkable musician. Parts of this CD are quite soothing and other parts quite dazzling.
In terms of genre, it is hard to pin down though.

i dont know what these previous reviewers are talking about. these are 2 older albums combined into one... they r not songs from a couple of others..... i have the records , i own them, and indian express and mani & co. are 2 legitamate seperate albums, not compilations...regardless mani is a master of the violin i saw him first with john mclaughlins 'one truth band'in 1978. larry coryell opened for it, what a great night!

This CD contains all the songs from two older albums, "Super Instinct" & "Indian express'. These are the two BEST albums by L.Subramaniam, ever. Period. He composed them when his creative genius was at its peak. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. In case you think I am biased, please see my review for "Global Fusion", a mediocre album by L.S.

Dr. Subramaniam simply surpasses himself in these compositions. His genious is clearly palpable, especially in "Motherland". Must buy if you like ANY kind of Indian Fusion Music. Awesome listening experience!!

It is a combination of two of his earlier albums India 2000 and Super Instinct. I owned them seperately on tape and I'm glad that they have been merged together. "Motherland" is my favourite piece-- excellent fusion. Whispering Moods is excellent--a sad piece garunteed to move you.
