Having seen the movie many times, I can close my eyes and relive the movie just listening to it.

You can really pick it out in the middle of the album.

The soundtrack for Last Crusade has many of the familiar themes from Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's a bit of a lighter mood, reflecting the film itself. Overall, it's probably not as dramatic as Raiders, but it has its moments. I particularly like the fact that the Nazi theme is better defined and more ominous. You can really pick it out in the middle of the album. If you do want this album though, be sure to get the 2008/2009 release as it has 6 additional tracks. Also, the Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection has an additional disc with several tracks of previously unreleased Last Crusade music.

I've always wanted the Indiana Jones CDs, and of all my John Williams CDs, this one ranks up in the top 10. It has great action pieces, and the opening track of young Indy's adventures is really exciting. The "grail" music heard throughout the CD and the entire track 17 is beautiful.
If you like Star Wars, particularly Ep V and VI, you'll love the Last Crusade.

We love it. But then again, it's John Williams in his prime, so what else really needs to be said?

Every Indy Movie has some great tunes that are unique to that film specifically. I think "Crusade" is the best in that regard. You can't beat John WIlliams.

I love all John Williams, but when the characters start to become to contrived a trite, then the scores are the only thing that save the movie. The movie was FUN, but it lacked something. The score is good, but not great, but hey, it is still John Williams so I bought it.

The music goes great when playing around with the kids outside. Kids love to listen to it when they play archaeologists.

The last movie from the original trilogy, and the best with Raiders of the Lost Ark, has the most sweeping and intimate music of the trilogy. Raiders of the Lost Ark is more oriented towards plain adrenaline, action and adventure with bits of love when Marion's Theme appears. Last Crusade is more ecleptic because it has more themes than Raiders and, even though it has the adventure feel, it also has a nice personal bond that reflects Indy's relationship with his father (Sean Connery). The music starts with a childish adventure feel with "Indy's Very First Adventure" and then takes us to Venice with "X Marks the Spot". We are also treated with two adrenaline packed songs composed for two great persecutions: "Escape from Venice" and the amazing "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra".

Besides all this, the Nazi's have a very well defined motif heard in "Alarm" and "Brother of the Cruciform Sword". And finally, the song that defines that bond between father & son can be heard in it's full glory on the Final Track. So, you see, Raider's surprised us with the Raider's March & Marion's Theme, but this soundtrack is more mature and has more melodies than Raider's. I'm not saying this is better, I'm saying that it is definitely not a repetition from what we heard befire... it's filled with brilliant new material that doesn't resemble the other two previous works, so it's a must buy for any Indy or John Williams fan.
