Indiana Jones 12 Inch Figure - Indiana Jones With Whip Action

I remember the 12 inch Indiana Jones doll back in 1981 that was out for about a week, it seemed anyway. It was imposable to find then and I have been waiting for it for years! (Because I wouldn't pay the ridiculous price for it as time went by).
Now with the new movie coming out, thank GOD, here come the Indy figures and dolls! (As nerdy as that sounds). I chose this one over the talking Indy simply because it looks more like Indiana than the other does. It isn't the old 81 doll I remember as a kid but it'll do, for now. The detail is nice as are the accessories. Unfortunately it has "whip cracking action" which means if you move a lever on his back his arm moves the whip up and down. Does anyone at Hasbro have the slightest clue how useless this feature is? It's a minor nuisance and overall it's worth owning though other companies are now making much better detailed versions of Indiana Jones in 12" form.

I just bought this figure and overall I'm really happy with it. But...the only problem is I WISH THAT THE HAT WOULD COME OFF. I mean, the hat comes off on the German Officer and Talking Indy. Why doesn't it on this one? I'm almost tempted to pry it off but I'm afraid I might decapitate it. Poor Indy. Whazzup?

I enjoy everything about Indiana Jones. Good old fashioned fun movies. I wanted to have an action figure for my collection. Only complaint...should have a removable hat. More realistic that way.

Cool toy for my son (4) but he did lose most of all of the small parts including the most important...the whip. Anyway still a great toy for kids who love Indiana jones or any type of action figures. Maybe a bit pricey for a four year old since he lost most of the stuff. Maybe wait until they are a little older and know how to take care of their nicer toys.

I've collected 12" scale action figures for several years, and short of buying a very expensive Japanese figure or the equally expensive vintage figure, I've had to do without a 12" Indiana Jones in my collection. Finally with the release of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Single Disc) movie, there is a full line of 12" Indiana Jones figures.

Pros - I chose this figure over the Indiana Jones 12 Inch Figure - Indiana Jones Talking Indy figure because it was a better likeness of the character. The outfit is detailed, and the head sculpt is quite good, down to Jones's signature stubble and hat. The whip action is actually pretty neat, though the posability of the figure is limited by that feature.

Cons - No jacket, no maps/diaries/idols to go in the satchel, and above all THE HAT DOESN'T COME OFF. It's not just glued to his head; it's part of the head sculpt. This was a major disappointment.

As a collector, I can't help but be disappointed by this figure. My son on the other hand, thinks it's completely awesome. He has just discovered Indiana Jones and was thrilled when I handed this figure down to him to start his own adventures. I'll be replacing it with the more detailed Raiders of the Lost Ark: Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) 12-Inch Figure by Sideshow Collectibles!, which looks to be just what my collection needs.

This was a Christmas gift for my six year old son. Today, the day after Christmas Indy's foot has broken off. As with all action figure I get for him, they are not durable. I'm in my 40's, we used to play with GI Joes in my neighborhood. We would drop them from trees,roll them down hills,and things like that. They endured it all. You could pull his head off or his leg off. They were made with a ball and socket, and you could stick them back in. Now, all these action figures joints are made with hard plastic and the movable limbs simply break off if they are played with. Is this made to be played with or is supposed to be on display as a collectors item? I love the whip action and sound effects but if it's going to be played with, think twice. The price is a bit high for something that is going to break. My kid was simply having the figure
run across the table when the foot broke off. Give me the old GI Joes any day!!!!
