Well,finally the toy companies have caught up with the whole Indiana Jones craze!This is a very cool little figure at a nice price.The detail is very good and the costume is just like in raiders of the lost ark.If there are any down sides to this there are few.One,the holster is too big and the wrong color.The pistol is the wrong model that Indy uses in raiders.They supply the 1917 model that sports the five and a half inch barrel.In the movie the barrel is clearly four inches.There is no satchel bag either.BUT enough bad points!,This is a very cool action figure for the price as stated before,great detail.You'll love the whip cracking action this little guy has,my nephews love it!The hidden idol treasure is nice too. Get ready to relive the adventures of Indy from all three movies!

"If adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones!" I'm a huge Indy fan, so I was thrilled when Indy 4 finally brought about an Indiana Jones action figure line with lots of characters and a modern sense of detail! Unfortunately, I soon discovered that the quality of the figures based on the first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, greatly varied. The other films had better sculpting detail (particularly the males) and the Raiders figures often had bad paint jobs featuring ridiculously large eyes painted on their tiny faces. But let me just say that if you buy these figures in person (unfortunately, that may be impossible for Americans when it comes to the Temple of Doom figures thanks to poor sales, and I wanted those most of all!), you can put together a fine collection by examining the paint jobs of the figures before you buy them. Even the less likeness-having "Raiders" figures are pretty nice if you get ones with good paint jobs, and they're still pretty nicely detailed too.

Now, the figure in question here is the Raiders Indy from the Cairo marketplace action sequence. It depicts Indy with a sweaty shirt and no jacket, and comes with a whip that this particular figure can actually crack. Indy also comes with his trusty pistol and a holster that is made rather large (but tolerable) so that it can hold the pistol and open and close. Indy doesn't have his bag on this one, which he should, but you can borrow one from another Indy figure if you have one. His hat is not removable, but that's a good thing, as the ones with removable hats don't look quite right when you put them on (the hats fit on well but look too big). The whip cracking action is performed when you squeeze his legs together, and the only complaint I have about this particular Indy figure is that it makes his left leg non-posable, making him difficult to stand, but it's not impossible on a level surface. I count 10 points of articulation myself: Right hip, waist, double articulated elbows, shoulders (one double articulated), and head. Like the other solo figures, Indy comes with a Top Secret relic in a paper crate. Most of the relics in the crate seemed to be more scaled to larger figures, not these, though they are too small for the 12 inch dolls. I'm guessing they'd look best with that 6 inch Indy figure from Disney World, but I think these might be better detailed and have better likenesses than that one. Can't say for sure, but I think I did see one once at a comic convention (and next time I go to Disney, I'll definitely pick one up, if not online). I don't always reveal what the top secret item is, as I've forgotten which came with each figure by now, but I do know that this figure comes with the lower half of the grail tablet from Last Crusade. I'm assuming it's the same scale as the other special relics, but I'd have to double-check the movie scene. The bonus relics might not all be to scale with each other. For relics that are the right scale to these figures though, you'd have to get the ones that are visible in the packages. For example, the Grail Knight comes with the actual Holy Grail for these 3 3/4 figures, and there is a deluxe pack featuring Indy in disguise with the Lost Ark. I have those and they are highlights of the collection. I'm still lacking a few must have figures though, and it's a shame they didn't make Marcus Brody or Toht, or any from the TV version of Young Indiana Jones. Anyway, if you pick up this Indy figure, you'll definitely want Marion and the Cairo Swordsman as well!
