I previously ordered an Indiana Jones branded hat from another source, and it had the three inch brim. It looked more like a cowboy hat than an Indiana Jones hat. I then ordered the Dorfman brand hat on Amazon with the 2 1/2 inch brim, and it looks super! What a difference taking 1/2 inch off the brim makes! It looks exactly like the ones in the movies.
Buyer should know that this hat is NOT soft and flexible! In fact it is quite hard, and can be creased and made to look awful if sat upon or otherwise crushed. If you are responsible enough to take care of a fine, quality hat, this is the one you want, because it looks SHARP, even dressy. I get compliments all the time, and hear even more from people who don't necessarily mean for me to hear their comments.
If you just love the Indy look like I do, but don't want a cheap-looking floppy hat, This is the one you want. You won't be sorry.
Huge heads run in my family, and hats that fit me are extremely hard to find. I usually have to wet and stretch hats to make them fit comfortably. These hats by Dorfman are available in sizes all the way up to XXXL, and you can link to a sizing chart from the ad page to determine your exact requirement. Awesome! The XXL fit My size 7 7/8 head perfectly! If you've been thinking of getting an Indy hat, I recommend this one for extreme good looks and quality construction.

While this is a quality hat at a great price, I am having extreme difficulty finding the correct size. The sizing information linked from the ordering page DOES NOT containg a Hat Sizing Chart. Using the sizing chart at the Dorfman company web site, I was led to believe that a Small would fit me. After receving the hat, it was clear that this sizing chart was VERY wrong, I couldn't even pull the hat over my head.

I decided to return the hat immediately (still waiting for that refund Amazon!) and order a Large, figuring that skipping up two sizes would take care of the discrepancy. The Large hat too did not fit me.. it's much closer, but still uncomfortable to wear.

Today I processed my second return in attempt to purchase a hat that fits me. I will order the XX Large as my last resort. I don't have a gargantuan cranium, I'm pretty average in stature. So I think it's safe to say that these hats run a bit on the small side.. info that the previous reviewer omitted in their endorsement.

I can't help but think that this unfortunate experience could have easily been avoided if an accurate sizing chart was actually provided on the ordering page, or at the manufacturer's website.

This hat looks perfect. But I measured my head according to the size chart and ordered the nearest one, a Medium. Even allowing for the fact that the hat is fairly rigid, it was too small. So I returned it (at my expense)and got the next size larger, a Large. It was too big and would blow right off. Returned that one and Amazon was generous in crediting me for the return postage.

I still like the look but my size, apparently, doesn't work with this style hat. I later found another one that looks exactly the same in a retail store in a Large and it fits perfectly. So beware. If your size is between sizes, don't order this hat.

Okay, after reviewing all of these fedora hats on Amazon, I at last chose one. I needed it for a guided "Gangster tour" I was taking with relatives in Chicago. I am in my mid-fifties and recall very well the fedoras my Dad wore to work everyday growing up. This is as close to an actual period hat as you will get without spending the big cash for a felt model--if you can find one. Forget these guys who wrote on reviews it is a "hard plastic hat covered with felt material." If you were in the Army, or Marines you may recall the "Montana Peak" hats the Drill Sgt.'s wore. This is the exact same hat material. Starched fur-wool-felt blend. It holds up to the elements abuse and keeps it's shape. The only drawback I have is that I had to exchange it for a smaller size. But it was free of charge to do so. I am very happy with the hat and recommend it to anyone looking for a Fedora from the 1920's-30's-40's or 1950's periods. These people at Dorfman got the look right for this fedora hat. (P.S.--if you buy the popular 3 inch brim hats of the "Indy" model, you may be disappointed as that extra half inch makes it look like a cowboys hat. True fedoras had a 2-1/2 inch brim back in the day. A 3 incher would only work for a big guy with a big head. That half inch does make a noticable differance to guys of an average height).

I live in Anderson, Indiana and to say the least, this Indiana Jones classic is a smashing success. It wears very well and is starting to confirm to head size comfortably. I am very happy and others are very envious!

I was VERY hesitant to purchase this hat after reading a few reviews about it but decided to take a chance and buy it anyway. I'm glad I did! Granted, the hat isn't crushable and is rather stiff, but it looks GREAT, fits me PERFECTLY and the shipping was quick! To make the experience even more rewarding, the asking price wasn't outrageous and the 'Indy' tag that came attached to the hat was simple to remove without compromising the hat in any way, shape or form. I'm very pleased with this item and have since made it my daily hat. Sorry Dr. Jones but this is one treasure that doesn't belong in a museum but on my noggin, lol!

I'd like to give this stylish hat five stars, although it is a bit stiff for a felt hat, BUT I ordered an XXL to fit my 7-7/8 head and when the hat arrived I immediately tried it on only to find it rattled around my cranium like a big salad bowl!
Waaaay too large. Amazon will only give a refund for this item, no exchange, so I took back my credit and will search for another fedora. Hopefully this manufacturer will get a better sizing method in place.

This is my first Indiana Jones hat, and I just have to say that this hat is EXCELLENT. Though not 100% movie accurate, this hat is still worth spending every penny! It's unfortunately not crushable, as it is made of some sort of hard wool felt. The material that it's made out of is still fairly good, but the quality is even greater! It's a nice stylish Indy-style fedora that almost nails the exact style of the one worn by the legend himself that everyone knows and loves! The only downside is the Indiana Jones pin that's stuck on the ribbon, which I'm still trying to figure out how to remove it without ruining the ribbon. BUT don't let this minor fault stop you! I highly recommend this to any true fan of Indiana Jones! Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Now all I need is a bullwhip and a bomber jacket...

Note: This is the same model (Dorfman Pacific IJ551) that they sell at the Indiana Jones Outpost in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. However, the one at the parks is priced at a hefty $48. So, I recommend buying online since it's priced less!

This is a very high quality hat that will impress most of your friends. The large size is very adequate for most adults. It is not made of soft wool, but hard, so the hat always keeps its original form and style, but can't be reshaped. There is an Indiana Jones logo attached to the tape, but it can be removed if you like. The inside of the hat is very well finished, with special fabric protecting your head from direct contact with the wool.

I bought this hat because I liked the style and needed something for those occasional cold days. Hat was delivered quickly and looked just like advertized. However I have a longer head than the hat was shaped for so it did not fit quite properly. Fortunately in Texas there are Western wear stores everywhere with hat departments. I had it reshaped to my head for free and it fit fine. The hat guy said that because it's made of pure wool it will be harder to keep a shape if not worn all the time. He said if it loses shape to put a blowdryer to the band just before you wear it and it will shape to your head again. Other than that, great looking casual hat for the price.
