Excellent Indy side-scroller.,

Let me start by saying I'm not very fond of 2D platform games at all. However, there are a select few that I do enjoy, and this is one of them.Besides the fact that it's Indiana Jones, it's also a pretty fun and action-packed game. The music is excellent, which makes since because it was taken directly from Indiana Jones movies. The graphics are quite good for the SNES, and especially so for a side-scroller. Indy animates very well, and the control is quite good. Like many other Lucasfilm games, this one is very challenging. However, I can accept that because the challenge comes from the game itself, not from poor control or design flaws. There are parts in this game that are not ridiculously hard, but they do require a whole lot of practice. You also have to use some strategy because many of the enemies are too tough for Indy to go toe-to-toe with, especially in the hardest difficulty. This game plays a lot like the Super Star Wars series for the SNES, except that Indy can't do that double-jump thing that you could in those games. The story covers the span of all three Indiana Jones movies, in order: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade. You can easily recognize many scenes from the movies that were implemented pretty accurately into the game, which is good. Too many times I've seen games based on movies make entire long, drawn-out stages out of one very minor event. There is no battery saving, but you can use passwords. Overall, it's a great game, especially for a side-scroller. And, it's one of the few movie-based games that does not completely mess up in the translation.

This is truly one of the best movie game adaptations around! Thanks to JVC and Lucasarts after doing the satisfying Star Wars Super Trilogy for SNES, they decided to give a shot to another George Lucas franchise called Indiana Jones. In this game you get to be in all three of the classic Indiana Jones movies all in one game instead of three like the Star Wars SNES games. This one plays sort of like those Castlevania sidescroller type of games as up play Indy and recreate legendary scenes from the motion picture trilogy, here in this game you get to use fists, your whip and a pistol to go against enemies and bosses. The graphics are suprisingly good for the 16-bit era including the sound effects which even uses some sound clips from all three movies in this one with some stills from the movies during cutscenes. Some of the levels can be difficult but they require patience and satragedy even for bosses as you fight everyone from General Toht to zombiefied Walter Donovan which i found a bit kind of weird. What else i like about this game is that it actually gives you a password to write down so you can continue where you left off is what i believe is a good thing. The Controls are even quite simple if you look in the manuel or online on how to some of the stuff or just by learning. If you seek an old school Indy game that doesn't blow then check out this one, stay away from the NES Temple of Doom and Last Crusade games as i say stick with this one.

INDIANA JONES TRILOGY...,

I first got this game back in the Christmas of '95. It was incredibly addicting. The graphics are splendid (& realistic), the music is close to that of the movie, and you get to play through all 3 films: "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", "The Temple Of Doom", & "The Last Crusade"! You play as the hero, Indiana Jones who battles various opponents, outruns deadly boobey-traps, and swings around with his trusty good ol' whip! Yes, this game is a little different than the films themselves, but the experience comes VERY close. There's also a password system that lets you continue where you last left off! I've played and beaten this game numerous times and STILL never get tired of it! (especially the bosses, they are awesome!!!) So why wait? GET A COPY NOW AND RELIVE THE ADVENTURE WITH INDY & FRIENDS!!!!

Indiana Jones and His Greatest Adventures is a companion title of sorts to Lucasarts' Star Wars trilogy for the SNES. You play as Indiana Jones and relive all three of his blockbuster movies, starting from Raiders of the Lost Ark and finishing with Last Crusade.
My biggest complaint is that the game leaves out major sections from each film. With the SNES coming to the end of its life span at the time of release, there was no way they could do a game for each individual film. But I would've liked levels based on the circus train, the venice boat chase, the jeep convoy with the ark, etc. Short Round and Willie are nowhere to be found in the Temple of Doom section. Digitized movie stills are nice but move the narrative along in a very abridged fashion. Again, I like that all 3 movies are represented, but I'd have liked them fleshed out more. The controls are tight, though I found Indy's weapons weren't very useful at times. The whip and pistol are good against human enemies, but completely miss the spiders and other small creatures Indy deals with while adventuring. They get annoying to the point of seeming unfair, and you'll find yourself dying from the little hits instead of the more obvious ones. Indy's health depletes quickly, and password saves come once every few levels - just far enough apart that you'll have to restart a few levels back if you die, a cheap way to extend replay. Finally, the level design just doesn't seem as tight and inspired as Super Star Wars - there's a more trial and error feel as opposed to intuitive action. And the game could use more boss fights. I had a decent time with the game, it's still Indiana Jones and it's still fun. It's definitely a more polished adventure than most companies would put out, it just doesn't match the standards set by the Super Star Wars games.

I love Indiana Jones, and take it from me, if you want a fun, but not too hard Indy game, this isthe one for you! The graphics are surprisingly good for an SNES game. The levels aren't exact to the movies, but why would you want it to be?! It's good for all skill levels as well! It has passcodes if you like to jump ahead in the game. And I love this game! If you want a game that makes for a good time and a wonderful thrill, I Cheers! |
