5.0 out of 5 stars This was a GREAT book!
I really liked this book. It was the first one I read, and, if I could go back and do it again, I would read "Indiana Jones and the Philosopher's Stone" first, becuase I am reading that one now. Unfortunatley I already know what becomes of the leading lady. I was happy to find out that I could still read about Indy, even after I'd seen the movies! It seemed...

Unfortunatley I already know what becomes of the leading lady. I was happy to find out that I could still read about Indy, even after I'd seen the movies! It seemed a little out of place, though. Most of his adventures are in warm places, but this one was set in the Artic! Brr!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still refreshing after that bloody martin cadin, October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth (Mass Market Paperback)
Yet another great book by Max McCoy. He recaptures the essence of Indidana Jones after it was so badly tarnished by Martin Cadins spy-novel versions of Indidan Jones. These get back to the fighting, and danger that we so love about Indy. More problems with women of course (true to life as always) and as good as ever. I am waiting anciously for the next book (and a spell checker ;-) ) Read this book its bloodycool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Action Packed Adventure! And the Hollow Earth!, July 6, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth (Mass Market Paperback)
Vril, Nazis, Zeppelins, Amundsen, the Hollow Earth - this adventure packed thriller has it all! Max McCoy possesses that subtle genius for projecting the reader into the center of the adventure matrix as he handles an historically controversial subject creatively echoing Burrough's Inner Earth adventure genre series.

We join Indiana as he is stalked by Nazis occultists for the coveted "Vril crystal", left in Indi's safe keeping by his friend and associate E. B. Baldwin, as we trek into the Arctic wasteland and into the deep unknown. Technically brilliant crafted descriptions, McCoy's "Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth" executes a series of perfectly timed sequences leading us to the door step of the mythical Ultima Thule. Cleverly fused in an orchestrated dialogue of dead pan one liners, Indiana and the adventuress Ulla, push their way up over the rim and through the incomprehensible opening into the Hollow Earth. There we are introduced to a very unique formula to the never dying quest for the understanding of the dynamics of the inner earth.

The combination of Indiana Jones, sinister Nazis, and the Hollow Earth, creates a novel that is irresistible to the adventure and paranormal reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rather quite British, March 2, 2002
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth (Mass Market Paperback)
Actually, I think this book deserves three and a half stars. The plot was excellent. I looked forward to reading about Indiana Jones exploring the inner earth and finding a race of "supermen", but as so often happens in fiction books, small details get missed that cause the book not to be as good as would have been had these details not been overlooked. First of all, everyone who's seen the Indiana Jones Trilogy well knows that Indiana Jones is a rather crusty, if intelligent character. This book, however, presents him in such a way that I expect he should be eating scones with Earl Grey tea. His vocabulary in the book was definitely more British than American (why, I wonder?). Actually I found the dialog for most of the characters, well...rather out of character. Secondly, I was dismayed at the poor German used in the book. For example, the author has an SS man using the word "javolt". The correct word is "jawohl". Additionally, the author mistranslates the SS motto by stating that it means "my honor is pure" rather than "my honor is loyalty". A quick look at a German dictionary would have done the trick. It was still a fun story even though it stretched credibility in these areas.

Max McCoy is the best author yet for Indiana Jones. When I read one of his books I feel like I'm watching the movie. This book has a lot of action and a wonderful plot. I especially like the part in Edda's shaft. With the warriors and..... If you like Indiana Jones stories read this book to find out what happens!

5.0 out of 5 stars Max McCoy has outdone himself this time!, March 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth (Mass Market Paperback)
This latest installment of Indy's adventures has strong characters, a tight, forward-moving plot, and humorous interludes. I loved it! I am not a die hard Indy fan, but I do love a good action and adventure novel. I can not wait to see what kind of jam McCoy puts Indy into next. McCoy has written a tour de farce book that both kids and adults alike can really enjoy. I for one really enjoyed this tale. Bring on the next Indy adventure!

It is not the mere "Indiana Jones' Adventure" that interested me, but the way the "Hollow Earth" mystery is dealt with in this book (besides, I'm an "Indiana Jones fan"!).

This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth (Mass Market Paperback)
Still in search of the crystal skull from his adventures connected to the philosopher's stone and dinosaur eggs, Indy learns that a canister containing the skull is somewhere near the north pole. Uniting forces with the military, Indy and company travel to the frozen regions of northern Iceland. Meanwhile, Indy is being hunted by Nazis as he has in his possession an object that Hitler wants desperately, the Vril crystal. The chase and Indy's quest eventually leads him to the opening of a world few have seen, the lost world of the Hollow Earth.

I enjoyed INDIANA JONES AND THE HOLLOW EARTH. The story and the plotting are very much in the style of Indiana Jones, but without feeling like a copycat rehashing of previous adventures already read about or seen. The writing in this story is stronger than in INDIANA JONES AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE. Also, Alecia Dunstin makes another appearance, but this time with the Nazis.

Overall, I found this to be a pretty good Indiana Jones story as well as a decent adventure tale.
