5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't like Sci Fi but love adventure you'll love it.
This Indy adventure starts off kind of in the air, but once you get to the middle and you've been to the Interior World you just can't put it down. I thought if you don't like fictionous books don't read it. But it's full of on edge adventure and suspence.

3.0 out of 5 stars I agree with everything the next review says.
The interior world WAS interesting, But it just WASN'T Indy's kind of place. A little too off the wall, even for Indiana Jones.

2.0 out of 5 stars Indiana Jones and the inferior plot., October 15, 1999
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Interior World (A Bantam Falcon book) (Mass Market Paperback)
To enjoy this book one has far beyond willing suspension of disbelief. The plot would have made a so-so science-fiction novel, but as an Indiana Jones book it falls short of the mark. I liked most of the other books that I've read in this series, but in this one I kept hoping I would come to the part where Indy was conked on the head at Easter Island and was just dreaming this whole awful fantasy . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Interior World very good, July 8, 2010
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Interior World (A Bantam Falcon book) (Mass Market Paperback)
Indiana Jones and the Interior World is a very good book. Though I did not like it as much as the other Indiana Jones novels, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you are looking for a really good adventure, I suggest that you read Indiana Jones The Secret of The Sphinx or the Dinosaur Eggs, because this book is much more a Sci-Fi genre than an adventure genre. These are the reasons I did enjoy this book: 1. I really liked the female character in this book because she was strong, independent, and very likeable (almost like a female version of Indy!). 2. I thought this book really did a great job of describing details in complicated settings. For example when Indy and his friends were in the interior word, the descriptions of the cities were really good. 3. I thought the plot was a masterpiece because it was well thought out and unique. 4. I loved the way author Rob Macgregor made his characters brilliantly original, funny and easy to follow. Indiana Jones and the Interior World has something for everyone in it! It has comedy, a bit of romance and lots of action and adventure. This book is definitely a must-read for all Indy fans!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pointless and Contrived, March 7, 2009
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Interior World (A Bantam Falcon book) (Mass Market Paperback)
I seriously can't believe this book was ever published. The story is ridiculous. An unoriginal plot device is introduced in practically every other chapter: shapeshifting, a ghost ship, gates between worlds, a magical unicorn staff?! Indiana Jones comes off as a third-rate version of himself.

I understand that these novels were published in the early 90's, probably quite hastily with the sole purpose of cashing in on the Indiana Jones brand. They were probably also intended for younger readers. I just think the powers that be are missing an opportunity to put out a genuine work of literature (think in the style of Raymond Chandler or Ernest Hemingway) about one of the greatest heroes ever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice attempt at creativity, but a failure, July 27, 1999

To be honest, I had to force myself to finish this book. While I credit MacGregor for trying to take Indiana Jones in new directions with this series, I simply couldn't buy it. In this last book, MacGregor strays way too far from archaeological facts and simply creates his own world. He has simply placed the character of Indy into a novel of his own invention, without regard for the character itself. While I admire his daring with the character, I feel that it simply doesn't work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good plot,good action,but a little outlandish, April 24, 1999

This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Interior World (A Bantam Falcon book) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just finished reading this book today. It was one of the most exotic and exicting Indiana Jones books. But it is rather outlandish. It's almost like Indy traveling to another planet and looking for a lost artifact(what would you think of such a book?slightly silly?Yes.)My favorite Indy book is still "The Unicorn's Legacy".The best scene is when Maleiwa(big baddie) and Indy fight for the alicorn on the Statue of Liberty and...what ya lookin' at me for?I'm not telling you the end!

2.0 out of 5 stars Way too outlandish, February 16, 1999

Well it seems that Rob MacGregor has done it again. The whole plot of this book was based on a portal and a world that inside ours. Now this may be a cool idea, but it IN NO WAY fits the Indy storyline. I mean, for cry'in out loud, this story is way too outlandish for Indy. If you disagree you have never seen the movies. Rob was doing well until he started writing stuff like this in his Indy books.

2.0 out of 5 stars New Age theories tedious, October 4, 1998

Too much fantasy and not enough reality. The Merlin/Appllo relationship is not explained in MacGregor's last book. In fact, I thought MacGregor was anxious to wrap up his commitment to the series. The weakest book from all three authors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bogus Journey to the Centre of the Earth, May 16, 2008
This review is from: Indiana Jones and the Interior World (A Bantam Falcon book) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've only just realized that I am reading these Indy books out of order. But I am clever enough to still keep up.

This adventure has Indy on Easter Island with Brody. He's only there to investigate the Moai but gets wound up in some ghost ship plot which doesn't naturally fit the setting. Before you know it he's been kidnapped by a bunch of people claiming to come from the interior world (a mirror of the exterior world) who need his help to defeat their own version of Hitler.

It's quite a stupid plot and I am annoyed that it made it's way into an Indiana Jones book as the stories this character usually winds up in are based somewhat in reality. But Rob MacGregor tries to explain it all away with an 'it was all a dream' cop-out ending.

There wasn't much atmosphere or any good action and Brody disappears far too early. I would quite happily have read a more realistic story set on Easter Island even if it took the history of the Moai too far. The silly interior world story really did seem like low-grade pulp to me.

Now to start reading these in the correct order...
