Book Description

November 30, 2004
The tradition of college basketball excellence that reigns at Indiana University can only be matched by a handful of other elite programs, while the fierce devotion of IU basketball fans has been selling out arenas and inspiring generation after generation of Hoosier fans for over a century. The Indiana University Basketball Encyclopedia captures the glory, the tradition, and the championships, from the teamÂ’s inaugural games in the winter of 1901 all the way through the 2003-04 season.

The most comprehensive book ever written about IU basketball, this encyclopedia covers every season and every game the Hoosiers have played throughout their illustrious history, including all of the programÂ’s Big Ten Conference championships and NCAA championships. It is a must-have for the library of every devoted IU basketball fan and a fitting guide to one of the most storied traditions in all of college basketball.

About the Author

Jason Hiner professes a lifelong fascination with Indiana University basketball that goes back to his youth, when, as an undersized point guard, he envisioned himself hitting game-winning shots in Assembly Hall. His basketball career never came to fruition, but today he has become a journalist and a historian of IU basketball. He writes a regular column on the history of IU hoops for Inside Indiana magazine and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Indiana Historical Society.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, comprehensive-if it's not here, it DIDN'T happen!!!, December 13, 2004
This review is from: Indiana University Basketball Encyclopedia (Hardcover)
Incredibly comprehensive, historically correct, and utterly fascinating telling of the history of Indiana University Basketball. I read this book cover to cover and even use it to look up different facts (like seeing if 45 points WAS the Assembly Hall shot clock record low point total).

If you are a fan of one of the most storied programs in NCAA history, the IU men's basketball team, this is as close to a must have as you can get.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent review of IU basketball!!, July 13, 2011

This review is from: Indiana University Basketball Encyclopedia (Hardcover)
Having grown up and played high school and college basketball in Indiana I was fascinated with the facts and figures in this well done book. I was so into it I checked out some things and was astonished when I found an error. A player in the early 1950s by the name of Warren Fisher was a friend of mine. The book lists him being from Kokomo, but he is from Ft. Wayne. Other than that anyone interested in finding facts about players and teams gone by at IU can probably find them in this book.
