Excellent overview of Western Native American life.,
By
This review is from: Indians of the Plateau and the Great Basin (First Americans (Facts on File Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
This covers the early inhabitants of Eastern California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Western Washington, Eastern Whyoming, Eastern Montana, and Northern Arizona. It has color and black and white photos on almost every page. It describes theories on the arrival of humans, the environment in the stone age, hunting techniques and tool use. There are sections on shelters, clothing, food types, and cultural practices. Of course, no book about Native Americans could be complete without a section about the arrival of the White man and the changes it caused, so this too has a section for this purpose. This would make a wonderful addition to any home or grade school library, and is a good read for anyone interested in Native American culture.
