For indie writers, this is INDISPENSABLE,
By
This review is from: The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages: A Reference Guide for Self-Published Authors and Small Publishers (Kindle Edition)
It started out as a simple (but ingenious) question on Book Blogs: "Problems Getting Reviewed?" It had been posted by one of the Book Bloggers, Christine Pinheiro-Silva, who was wondering if other indie authors were finding it difficult to get their self-published, digital or POD books reviewed by critics. I saw the original post, then watched (greedily, I might add) as scores of open-minded reviewers responded by saying, yes, they were indeed receptive to indie authors who were writing books in exciting new formats. 'The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages" grew out of those responses.
If Christy had done nothing but compile a list of willing critics (a task in itself), that would've been virtue enough. But the Yellow Pages is much more than that. The entries for each of the reviewers includes a rating, a history of their sites or blogs, their audience size, a complete list of what genres and publishing formats they accept/don't accept, submission guidelines, approximate turn-around times plus a Q&A giving you a feel for their personalities and tastes. It's an amazing and thoroughly researched labor of love. I should add that I don't know Christy, except as a member of Book Blogs. I'm not a friend doing a favor. I'm recommending the Yellow Pages because I'm a satisfied customer. I've contacted many of the reviewers listed here and have gotten some spectacular results--results I wouldn't have gotten without her book. The title of this review isn't hype. The book really IS indispensable. If you're an indie writer, this is a Must Have.

"Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages" I Just Read It. Wow!,
This review is from: The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages: A Reference Guide for Self-Published Authors and Small Publishers (Kindle Edition)
Oh my heavens! This is the book with the information I have been looking for.
Free publicity for your book(s) is always wonderful, but the challenge is finding the people who will give your book a review. If you publish or if you write books, eBooks, Kindle, or Nook, Author Christine Pinheiro has put together the ultimate list of reviewers for you. She contacted every one of these reviewers and asked them to respond to a series of about 20 questions as to what type books they review, and how the want them submitted. Christine has included the reviewers' responses, so you can zero-in on the type of reviewers you want. Excellent Resource for UK Authors Too!,
By Stephanie Zia (London, UK) - See all my reviews

I bought the first version of this list and found it indispensible. I was able to contact some great bloggers who reviewed in my genre and accepted ebook originals without wasting anybody's effort. Consequently in no time at all I had some wonderful reviews for my new novel on US Amazon, Good Reads, US Smashwords, US Blogcritics, plus some very fine individual blogs and even The Huffington Post.
Thank you a million times for this fantastic resource. Stephanie Zia, Author of Ten Good Reasons To Lie About Your Age (Romantic Comedy)

The author of this title has done a great service for indie authors seeking to have their books reviewed. For each review site listed, there is a large amount of information provided so that you can decide if the reviewer is going to be a good match for what you've written. I especially like the section at the end where the reviewer says a few things about her/his-self. Those comments help you remember the obvious: that there's a real person behind the blog.
If you are a self-published author looking for reviewers, I can't imagine a better use for 99 cents!

Self-published authors, and authors in general, face an uphill battle trying to find reviewers who are willing to review their books. The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages makes this process so much easier. Not only does the book provide a list of available reviewers, it reduces time significantly by providing information such as genres the reviewer will or will not accept, frequency of review postings, number of regular visitors to the reviewer's website as well as a host of valuable information. This book is a great tool for the author who self-publishes.

Great Resource for Small Presses, Independent Publishers,
This review is from: The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages: A Reference Guide for Self-Published Authors and Small Publishers (Kindle Edition)
I recently wrote a children's book series that was published by a small press, and have had difficulty finding book reviewers willing to take on books by small/independent presses. The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages is exactly the resource I need. It lists ONLY book review bloggers willing to take on self-published material, and provides information on the genres accepted, how long the blog has been active, the frequency of posts, and the number of followers. The introduction also offers some very useful tips for authors wishing to submit material to these reviewers.

This is an exciting time for authors who are looking for publishing options. Self-publishing has become very popular for authors who want to get their books into the hands of readers quickly and economically. Promotion and marketing of self-published books are critical. The author of a self-published book must find book reviewers to read and post reviews of his book. "The Indie Book Reviewer Yellow Pages: A Reference Guide for Self-Published Authors and Small Publishers", by Christine Pinheiro, is a reference for independent publishers and self-published authors who need free publicity and promotion for their books.
The author sent out questionnaires asking the book reviewers to give detailed descriptions of their blogs. There are approximately 100 book blogs featured in this book. This is the second edition of the book and it was updated in April, 2011. The following information is given about the book blogs featured in this book; Formats accepted (Physical copies or ebooks) Genres that are accepted (fiction, non-fiction, children's, erotica, young adult, etc.) Blog URL Email contact information Number of followers Approximate turn-around time for reviews Frequency of posts How long the site has been active Overall blog rating Comments from the reviewer This book inspires me because it provides detailed information about many of my fellow book bloggers. I am not the author of a self-published book, but I have spent many hours visiting each of these review sites. I have learned some great ways to improve my own blog by checking out the book blogs listed in this book. The book is a fantastic resource if you would like detailed information about book review blogs. JanetteFuller.Com; Books, Inspiration and Life

Christine. Great Job! I have already started to use the information. I dumped the reviewers that were interesting to me into a spreadsheet so I could manage my submissions. I even added an Amazon public note to highlight one of my selections.
Your book lets me focus on the reviewers that most likely would review my ebook. The ones who would accept my submission in the historical fiction genre and in an ebook format. Thanks so much for this information.

This is a practical volume of carefully compiled resources that will be useful to new authors and small presses.
Christine Pinheiro and Cynthia Sherwood have organized contact information to reach independent reviewers and they have surveyed these reviewers in order to describe each reviewer's interests and preferences for book submission. That this is a second edition suggests that the author plans to update the data so it remains timely. Bravo. |
