We have 5 children and all of our children have learned or are learning to type with this program. The interface is easy to manage and all levels can find something to work on here. My kids like the games that come with the program, and I like the customizable nature of the setting...music or no music, texts that they provide or I can input my own.

Right now, we are using this with our 14yo, 13yo, 10yo and 7yo. The 4yo gets to try it while sitting on my lap. Our 13yo is approaching 100wpm and the other children are progressing nicely, too.

We are using this on Windows Vista and have not had any problems, even though Vista is not mentioned in the product information.

This version is compatible with Windows Vista!!!!We are so pleased with this product! It has been extremely usefull for the entire family. The little one's have started playing the learning games and my husband and I have both increased our wpm. I highly reccomend this product!

Typing Instructor Deluxe 17 This was so easy to use that after the first half hour I was on my way. You are able to practice the typing lessons as much as you want before moving on. And if a lesson goes well, you can move on sooner. You are advised when it is time to increase your wpm goals, but are able to keep it the same if you are more comfortable with that.

Product description states uses Windows 7 platform, but box states Windows Vista only. Returned item for refund. Check out Typing Instructor Platinum Version 21. This uses Windows 7 platform but you won't find it here. Search for it on the web and you can find it for $16.

I have five grand children who have learned to type using this progam. One is graduating from high school and has used this knowledge to type his papers for school for a few years. It has certainly helped him in his grades. The twins are just learning and almost finished. This is the best course for learning to type I have found. I have even recommended it to grownups in order for them to learn the keyboard and become better PC users. I rate this a five star program as anyone can learn with this program. The product when ordered as new or used has always been new in CD envelope.

I purchased both Typing Instructor Deluxe(Version 17)and Mavis Beacon Deluxe(Version 17)to increase my typing speed.
I just love the Typing Instructor Deluxe! It is easy to navigate, has very pleasant graffics, lots of variety and features, and loaded up perfectly (Windows XP Home).
Each time I use the Mavis Beacon software I have to change the pixel size of my screen to make it small enough to fit, and then it ends up being a little too small. Afterwards, I have to change the pixel size back again. As a result, I don't bother using the Mavis Beacon much.

Ad said that this typing program would work on Windows 7 - The type was all layered on top of each other and you could not read what to type. I wrote the company that produced the product and asked what I could do to solve the problem - They have not answered - it has been over 3 weeks. Either it was advertised incorrectly on Amazon, or it was falsely advertised as to what it would do (work on Windows 7).

I was looking to improve my typing for my job and decided with the good reviews this product had received it would be more helpful. Probably works better for kids than adults wish I had gotten Typing Master Pro, I downloaded the demo it seems like it would help me more.

I homeschool my child and use this for her 7th grade typing class. She is doing really well and likes the product. It's easy to use and works with Vista. She was using the Typing Instructor for Kids until she had to get a new laptop. It wouldn't install on her new computer so we had to purchase a new one. She liked the other one too but this one is more for the older kids. I'd give it an A.

This program was probably the best of 2007, however, in 2010 it lacks compatability with the newer computer models and with Window's Vista or later. I would recommend that you post this clearly when people are looking for typing software. Currently, the description says that it is Vista compatible, but it could not be downloaded onto 2 of our computers, which had Vista, and nearly messed up the systems. We had to load it onto an older computer in order to get it to work. This needs to be clear from the start of the product description, before a person orders it. Otherwise, this program is very informative and user friendly. I would suggest, however, that you loose the soft speaking female voice and go with a more normal speaking one. This one talks to you like you are a 3 year old, and a slow one at that, and was beeeyyyyonddd irritating! Also, I think it would improve the learning experience if you expanded the typing curriculum for each exercise from three words or word groups to an entire line. For example: dfkj dfkj dfkj To: dfkj dfkj dfkj dfkj dfkj dfkj dfkj dfkj.... you get the idea. This type of tactile learning needs the repetition in order for the brain to remember it better.
