A valuable autism assessment tool, January 20, 2007
This review is from: Individualized Assessment and Treatment for Autistic and Developmentally Disabled Children: Psychoeducational Profile-Revised (Pep-R) (Paperback)
This assessment tool was developed by Division TEACCH professionals to use with children functioning at or below the preschool range and within the chronological age range of 6 months to 7 years. This test provides information on developmental functioning in the following areas: imitation; fine motor skills; gross motor skills; eye-hand coordination; cognitive performance; and cognitive verbal skills. It also identifies behavior in the following categories: relating and affect; play and interest in materials; sensory responses; and language. The test uses a set of toys and learning items (available separately) that are presented to a child using structured play activities, and the examiner uses test items to observe, evaluate, and score each child to determine developmental delays and atypical behavior. This assessment tool has recently been replaced by the PEP-3 Kit. This is a newly revised test and kit that now includes all of the toys and materials needed to administer the test, as well as a caregiver report, which requires parent input before the test is administered. This assessment kit has also been updated in several other significant ways. For a complete product description, and to obtain the PEP-3 Kit, please visit our website.
