5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST for educators of neurologically-impaired children., October 8, 1999
This review is from: Teaching the Tiger A Handbook for Individuals Involved in the Education of Students with Attention Deficit Disorders, Tourette Syndrome or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Plastic Comb)
I read the first chapter of Teaching the Tiger and immediately turned it over to my 7th grade TS+ child's team of teachers. After they started using the book, I noticed an immediate change in the way they handled teaching him, and it just gets better every day. The authors have managed to convey what everyone dreams of--how to reach and teach children with ADD/ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, OCD, and other neurological difficulties. These children are teachable, and may even be gifted, but often they founder under conventional systems. This book explains in fine detail a "menu" of behaviors to expect as "normal" from these children, and then how to work WITH the child, not against him.

5.0 out of 5 stars In the Classroom, March 13, 2000
This review is from: Teaching the Tiger A Handbook for Individuals Involved in the Education of Students with Attention Deficit Disorders, Tourette Syndrome or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Plastic Comb)
This is the best book on classroom management of children with these disorders I have ever read. It is very easy to read and put in to use. I recommened this book to any teacher or parent dealing with a child with TS, OCD, or ADHD. I have never read anything with so much understanding and empathy for these children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding resource for schools, parents, advisors..., September 29, 1999

Anyone involved with children with TS/OCD/ADD/ADHD - this is a *must read* handbook. The practical suggestions fit every life situation from pre-school through university and into adult life - family, home, job, friends, etc. I bought this book to share with my child's school because they seemed unable or unwilling to accept the challenges in the life of a gifted child with a disability. We now *homeschool* and work out our schedules naturally in accord with the suggestions from this book and experience that the school would have. There's even a section on writing IEP's and 504 plans. This is an excellent book.
