This product was not what I expected. The video segments are short - about 5 minutes - and the majority of the study comes from the accompanying book.

I have the DVD, small group work book and the hardback book. the DVD IS the first story of each chapter told by Lucado. Nothing more, nothing less. If you have the book, the dvd is not needed. I found that the DVD did NOT help prepare for the small group whatsoever. I was VERY disappointed in this study overall.

I would get the book with the small group study not the DVD pack. The book goes into more detail of what Lucado is trying to accomplish, although, it does not really help all that much for the work book (aka study for small group) either. It does mentally prepare your mind to think about John 3:16 and so helps focus your mind in that direction, which is more than the video does. My small group is considering dumping this study. We are in chapter 3 and we just are not impressed with it. The questions are abrupt, we can't find the focus of his point, and does not hold any of the group's interest (5 married couples).

I have purchased two Max Lacado John 3-16 Bible studies for Leaders for Bible Studies, and to date both sets have had a defective Leader Guide DVD, that will not play saying it is scratched or smudged. The second purchase is in the mail back to Amazon at the present time.

I am looking for a satisfactory resolution to my problem soon.
