Fairy Tales and Dreams - Hope for our World, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Individuation in Fairy Tales (C. G. Jung Foundation Books) (Paperback)
Marie Louise von Franz is a delightful writer who understands what we need to know about ourselves and our world right now. Her sense of humor and informality make the most unfamiliar ideas accessible. She explains beautifully how fairy tales really are the dreams of nations and tribes and how they compensate for our conscious attitudes just as dreams do. She provides hope by explaining how fairy tales communicate the answers to the world's problems which dwell in the unconscious..

Keys to the Unconscious, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Individuation in Fairy Tales (C. G. Jung Foundation Books) (Paperback)
Marie Louise Von Franz does a very sharp job in explaining the role symbols play in these stories. She unravels with remarkably ease the gist behind the stories she analyses and shows us the spiritual role a bird or parrot plays in resolving enigmas of entrapment as quite common to diverse cultures. This book is rewarding reading.
