Well Worth the Read!,
By
This review is from: Indivisible (Paperback)
I'm happy to report that Grice's Indivisible is a book that, you should be warned, you'll likely read through in one sitting. Screw sleep.
The book centers on the coming financial collapse and four characters around that. One is a regular guy with nothing special about him. He's not in the patriot movement at all, not a survivalist or weapons expert, and has only a regular guy's worries about his wife and child. Another is a disturbed veteran soldier and his comrade in arms, whose beyond disturbed and into the psychotic. Finally, there's the lawman, an Under Sheriff who takes himself and his badge a little too seriously and his estranged wife, a Deputy of the U.S. Treasury. The story weaves around these characters as the financial collapse hits America and the people slowly realize the end is nigh. Most of the action takes place around Denver, Colorado as the soldiers are brought home to quell the "rebellion" and bring order - usually amounting to the slaughter of civilians and mass desertions of both professional soldiers and National Guard. Mostly, though, the story revolves around the everyman and his quest to get his family through the collapse intact. He is both helped and hindered along the way by the others in the story. He works to get through what he must do amidst gasoline shortages, food shortages, parasitic government employees, etc. In the end, this is a great book and very well worth reading.

Wow!!!,
This review is from: Indivisible (Paperback)
Wow! An excellent read I finished in 2 days. Can't wait for the sequel, but I will.
The story unfolds rapidly with building excitement, suspense & drama. Essentially the Fed's print too many dollars, cause hyperinflation, then shortages, civil unrest & an ugly martial law. Great writing though, as the novel follows several different characters working through the mess: soldier, sheriff, gov't exec, suburban couple, etc. Can't remember the last time I read a novel & was sorry to see it end. You won't be disappointed.

I was really getting into this well written story, but it came crashing down right around the time in the story that the collapse happens (35%). It would have been fascinating to watch it all happen and watch how the key characters coped. The problem I had was the sheer amount of disdain and derision that was lacing every description. Vapid, sheeple, idiots, drones...it just goes on and on - I'm not even American and still started to feel insulted. The problem is I became hyper aware of he authors presence (an biases) and it ripped me out of the story. Threw in the towel and stopped reading.

Excellent Thriller,

This review is from: Indivisible (Paperback)
Indivisible is something of a prequel to the author's outrageous first book Goldstein. It initially follows several characters as they experience an economic crash in the United States caused by excessive government spending and borrowing. Eventually, the story settles on a lead character in the person of Vaughn Clayton. He is recently unemployed and living in snowy Colorado with a wife and young child at home.
Law and order quickly breaks down as the value of the dollar crumbles. Store shelves are bare and fuel is prohibitively expensive when available. An underground economy starts to emerge, but government intervention quickly outlaws its activity. The greenbacks keep rolling off the presses and the entire free trade system implodes. This is the backdrop for an excellent thriller and I eagerly await Mr. Grice's next book. Note - I suppose I'm getting used to reading self-published books because the spelling and grammatical errors don't phase me a bit. There were a few times when I had to re-read a sentence, but it certainly wasn't difficult considering what a page-turner this book is. Beggars can't be choosers, and if one limits oneself to only reading polished works by major publishers, one would be missing out on a lot.

Heck of a read,

I didn't really know what to expect when I began reading this exceptional tale. Several panoramas opened up and began to converge together in complex fashion, much like happens in some of the best movies you've ever viewed. The tension and suspense built up steadily to an incredible finish, and lose ends were sewn up to satisfaction. I was left with the feeling I'd just witnessed something momentous (and also frightening beyond description). I truly enjoyed the story, and I hope with everything I have inside of me that it never comes to pass; because it seems like something which could happen all too easily, especially with the way things are headed lately. A must-read for sure.

I almost didn't buy this book when I saw the 1 Star reviews, but upon further examination I noticed that those reviews were more or less objections to the political viewpoint of the author, rather than the merits of the story or the writing itself. If you think that all government officials, police and soldiers are here to protect you, this book probably isn't for you. If you have a sense that our economy is on shaky ground and that many politicians and officers of the State have something in mind other than everyone's best interests, you will likely enjoy this book. The story line is interesting and the writing is fast-paced. There are some minor flaws, but I generally found INDIVISIBLE to be entertaining and worth my time. This is a book about how freedom can be lost when people don't pay attention to what is going on around them. Not all of the police and soldiers in the story are villains, but it will seem so if you are a fan of governmental paternalism.

If you want to read a book that will make you appreciate what you have, and that will make you sit back and consider how fortunate you are to have the freedoms that are left, then this is the one for you. I read this book cover-to-cover in one sitting because it was so engrossing. The story pulls you through the disintegration of the United States, eventually plotting citizen against government, and even government factions against each other (state vs fed, etc). The tale is told through the eyes of 4 main characters that converge in the mountains near Denver, CO. The writer has quite a wry sense of humor and definitely knows the jargon of the genre ... definitely recommended!

Excellent book with a few flaws.,

As a Tea Party libertarian, I have to saw that I loved this book. Usually I read horror like Bentley Little, but the horror Mr. Grice writes is based in the reality of what could happen if we continue this policy of bread and circuses. So where are the flaws, here I go?
1. The American military is compared to SS thugs who follow orders, although there are also good military characters. 2. Israel is called a fascist state twice. 3. At a rally the author describes Orthodox Jews participating but not Zionists. Hello? Any Jew who doesn't support Israel, i.e. Zionism, isn't a real Jew. I don't mind the author disagreeing with Israel, but tell the truth! With that said, the book is NOT like The Turner Diaries like some critic wrote, The Turner Diaries was an extremely racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic book, while this book has one sheriff character that pretty much hates everybody and another one that doesn't, this book is not a white power manifesto. As for the contempt some people accuse the author of having for the American people, I think liberals are confusing contempt with love. Either way, this was a fantastic book, I also recommend "Goldstein" by the same author. Sincerely, [...]

Indivisible,

"Indivisible" is a quick read because the author keeps it interesting. Essentially, the book's focus is on integrity, tolerance and willpower as is applied to all social levels (personal, community and government) when the SHTF in America. "Indivisible" explores plausible human actions caused by high-stress and reaction(s) to economic collapse. I think for the average prepper it is certainly easy to read and worthwhile as endorsement; for those whom have not thought so much about "what if" and the subsequent homeland mess - if the S really does HTF - then this book gives you a good slap. By the end of the book, just as in the beginning, what one thinks about are the underpinnings of morality and loving kindness. Yes, people die, but that's always been real.

Yes there are some grammatical errors and misspelled words, SO? I thought it was well written and handled the different personalities and their crossing paths well. Read it mostly in one afternoon because it was so good. Dont like the genre then dont buy it but if you do I think you will like this book. I am finding I like these self published books quite well. Good job author and keep it up...
