4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book, February 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Indoor Grilling Cookbook: 100 Great Recipes for Electric and Stovetop Grills (Hardcover)
Great cookbook with some creative and unusual recipes. The Pork Loin with Cider-Molasses Sauce was a big hit with the family. We'll be referring to this one regularly as we break in our George Foreman Grill. Only wish there was more nutritional information included BUT it isn't intended to be a low fat or low calorie cookbook. Most recipes aren't heavy though and those that are appear to look as if they can easily trimmed down a bit.

When I purchased this book on impulse at a remainders store, I didn't realize how nice it really was. The cheerful yellow pages are inviting and the foods are nicely photographed, though not every recipe has a photo.

I bought a universal grill that had absolutely no information on how to use it except for making panini, and this book told me everything I needed to know to do basic grilling and then some.

The book is divided into chapters on grilling various foods (poultry, beef, seafood, vegetables and vegetarian entrees, etc.) plus a chapter on sauces, rubs and marinades, and another on side dishes and accompaniments. And there's even one on desserts, which I wouldn't have thought of finding in a grilling book. The butter-rum grilled bananas sound pretty good!

Useful for those who have either grill pans or electric two-sided grills, the book explains how to use both with each recipe. Unfortunately, this book appears to be close to being out of print.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Grill Cookbook!, March 11, 2010

I have a LOT of indoor grill recipes and cookbooks. But this one by far is my favorite. Down to earth, easy recipes with most ingredients already on hand.
I don't like cookbooks with elaborate spices or ingredients, so this one is
perfect for me. I also get a lot of recipes from the Yahoo group George_Foreman_grill.

I was surprised at the small dimensions of this lovely little cookbook (just under 7" x 7"), though it is a full 260 pages, including some full-page, enticing photos. The contents are very well organized, and it is well indexed. I began by studying the "Sauces, Rubs & Marinades", which was full of temptations. Then I discovered, as I leafed through the remainder of the book, that there are actually at least two dozen additional marinades, sauces, etc. given with various recipes, and clearly marked as such. Many could be used with other recipes or favorite cuts of meat and vegetables. There are many "Tips for Great Grilling" in the introductory section, as well as spread throughout the recipes. All in all, a very user-friendly little book. And the publisher is to be commended on the excellent paper quality and binding. It easily lays flat on the counter and is the perfect size after all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indoor Grilling improves my star status, December 24, 2010

I am already one of the best cooks in Florida. My First Day of Winter Luncheon on December 21st, for instance, consisted of

Chilled Watercress & Cilantro soup
Cornish Game Hens a l'orange
Refried Brussels sprouts
Bourbon Barrel Cake with Ice Cream

The Cornish game hens were cooked on a recently presented George Foreman Grill. But, as another reader observed, the grill came with very little cooking information. So I went on Amazon.com and found The Indoor Grilling Cookbook.

Upon reading it I am reminded of Shakespeare's great plea, "Oh, for a muse of fire that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention." In other words, this little book rises my star. Vindaloo paste, spinach calzone, meatloaves. I'm already in heaven. Thank you Amazon and the company I bought it from.
