There a time and place for using torches, but there will be more time and more places for the mini-ductor MD-700.

He has already used it several times since he got it for Christmas last week!!!

I purchased this tool for use on my farm and so far it has worked as advertised. There are always rusted nuts and bolts on older equipment I am trying to repair. In the past the only way to get the really stubborn ones off was to heat them with an acetylene torch. Using a torch anywhere on my Combine or where there was a buildup of dust or grease (which is everywhere on farm equipment) made me nervous. With the Mini-Ductor II there is no flame so I don't worry about seeing my equipment and barn go up in a big fire ball. The Mini-Ductor II appears to be well made and well engineered, as apposed to the first version of the Inductor which looks like it was built in someone's garage from stuff that was lying around. I imagine it works as well as the version II that I purchased but can't verify this.

So far I've used this to remove a dozen gage wheels on my corn planter so that I could replace the support arms and I was successful on nine of them. This is about the same success rate I would experience using a torch. To remove the wheel shafts from the control arms I had to heat the end of the arms until they were not quite red hot. These arms are thick and about a foot long so the conduct a lot of heat away from the point you're heating. As the duty cycle on this tool in 2 minutes on and 2 minutes off I had to heat it twice to get the end hot enough to separate the shaft from the arm. This was about the same time it takes with a torch.

I admit that this item is not cheap, but it works and the reduced risk of starting a fire is well worth it. No flame, no sparks, no melting things two inches away from where you're working. If you're a farmer you need one of these in your shop

Think about the last time you were comfortable heating up exhaust manifold studs with a torch on a newer car with the nylon fuel lines 5mm away. Enough said. This thing works like a champ. Fast, easy, never runs out of gas. You will not set the starter wiring on fire with this, it only heats the area inside the coil. I recommend getting the coil kit and reading the instructions. For cutting metal or working in open areas the torch is still king but this tool has it's place in the garage. Only downside is the price so get your boss to buy one for the shop.

Im a heavy equiptment mechanic by day and at home do lots of side work on cars, when I saw this thing on my local snap on truck I was intrigued. In my shop I didnt think it would work out since we have oxy-acetaline torches and they do a fine job, but at home where torches are impractical I knew it would be perfect.
I had purchased a mini-ductorII about a week ago and I have to say this is the coolest tool I have ever bought it works great, first thing I used it on was an egr tube on an older ford explorer, within the tools 2 minute duty cycle it heated the tubes nut to red hot with out setting the truck ablaze in my driveway. I used it again to heat up all the manifold studs. It will heat up a small bolt red in literally seconds larger stuff obviously takes longer but works all the same.
After seeing it work so well at home I brought it to work for some heavy jobs it works perfect for heating up hydraulic cylinder rod with out damaging the chrome which happens all to often with the torches.

Its not with out problems though, it is hard to get it into some tight spots. It just cant heat up really big stuff efficiently ie takes to long plus I dont think it was built too even though it has larger coils available, and lastly the fiberglass cover on the coils quickly burns away once you get the work piece cooking.

Overall its great, worth every penny. For years I have spent countless dollars breaking good tools trying to break free stuborn bolts. I have a feeling thats over.
PS I got the mini ductor and the larger coils for a much better price from my snap-on dealer. shop around.

I work in a Porsche repair shop. On occasion we will get an older Porsche with rusted exhaust manifold bolts. Instead of heating them with a torch, it's great to heat them with out the flame. This product works exactly as described! I even had a problem with it overheating, contacted Induction Innovations they had a new one out to me the next week! If you work on older vehicles, or vehicles with rust this product is a must have.

This is just what the Dr. ordered! I've worked around large induction units in power houses and know how well the large ones work. I would have given it 5 stars, but there always improvements.Within 6 seconds the 3/4 rod was glowing orange/red. There a time and place for using torches, but there will be more time and more places for the mini-ductor MD-700.I think this is an excellent for large and small shops. I'm going to try silver soldering with it. Sincerely Ricker

very neat tool. Gets nuts red hot and not the fire hazard of a torch flame. Glad the price has been coming down

Awesome piece of equipment and a must have for avid mechanic or restorer. I first learned about these heaters in college, as i am going for a degree in automotive, and played around with it in the shop and thought this is pretty cool but ill never be able to afford one. I decided to look them up and ended up here and saw the price wasn't bad and this model is a better version that the school itself had so I had to have it. Shipping was amazing i ordered on a Thursday night standard shipping and had it Saturday night. So if your tired of burning yourself or melting what you actually intend to work on consider this product.
