Having tested the tilthead for a few days now, I'm quite well pleased with the overall product. Nice fit and finish, smooth operation, very adequate tension for bridge or dslr with modest lense and efficient and solid quick release that is easy to operate. I'm beginning to like the thumb wheel adjuster more than I had expected vs: the newer lever designs. The Induro quick release doesn't exhibit the "quirk" in release that I've seen in the Benro BR-168 ballhead. (sister company)

For reference, the base measures @ 1.220" diameter, with 3/8" mounting. The .6# weight doesn't feel as heavy as I had assumed. It doesn't appear to imbalance a @ 1# monopod. A replacement QR plate is listed as available. (Be Advised: this is a dedicated MONOPOD tilthead, not intended tripod use.)

I've used various ballhead, tilthead versions on my present monopod with my FZ28, but for some reason this model has caused a noticeable improvement in my images. It may well be the different grip necessary while in use, but there is a distinct difference. It's created so much improvement over what "I" considered good shots, that I've replaced my lightweight pod with a new Induro AM25 model, another excellent product. I took over 2 dozen shots at 600mm+ and all were "keepers".

I'm confident enough to recommend this for any P&S, bridge camera or smaller dslr like an E-520 w/40-150. Unless you're restricted to a specific QR system, it's hard to beat. At the current 70% off pricing, it would be foolish to pass up.

I needed a good quick release head for my monopod. Didn't want anything fancy, more specifically, didn't want to pay a huge price for anything fancy. I just needed something that would work as a reliable quick release so that I could get my camera on and off of my monopod quickly. I enjoy shooting from the monopod for stability, but most of the time, would rather hand hold the camera to get an unrestricted feel of the shot. without a quick release on my monopod, it would be useless to me because there is no way I would spend the time to thread and unthread my camera from it every time I wanted to take a hand held shot, etc.

So, I came on here, found this little wonder, and figured, heck for $12 how can I go wrong? Even if I get it and it sucks, I can just throw it away, $12 isn't really a loss.

It was actually so cheap, that I ordered 2 of them, the second just so that I could use the quick release plate from it to so I could mount both of my cameras with their own plates... (it was cheaper to buy two whole new heads with plates then it would have been to buy a new head, and a spare plate, crazy huh....)

Anyway, they came in the mail, and I am happy to say that I am VERY pleased with this unit. I have NO IDEA why it is on sale for as cheap as it is. At $12, let me tell you, this is an absolute no brainer. Honestly, now that I have it in my hands and have been able to verify it, I would gladly have shelled out $30-$50 for it.

It is solid and kind of heavy, but not in a clunky way. More in a you know it's not going to break on you tomorrow way... It is very well build and I feel confidant mounting my 8+ pound camera on it, even though it is only rated at just under 6 pounds.

Buy this one with confidence. I'm honestly resisting the urge to buy as many of these as I can get to wait for them to stop being on sale and then resell them. You can't beat the price, value to price, they are worth MUCH more then the tiny $12 that is being asked for them.

This review is based on my first impression with the Induro 484-001 TH-S monopod head. I have not ownd the product long enough to review it's durability.

Build quality seems to be outstanding. The finish sure feels better than my Bogen ball head (488RC2). The bubble leveler is very nice, something that's missing from Bogen 234RC monopod head. QR (quick release) feature works fine, and is easy to use. QR plate has the standard 1/4" thread for camera attachment. The bottom of the tilihead has 3/8" thread for monopod attachment. The weight is similiar to Bogen 234RC, so it's reasonable. Overall operation is easy and smooth. Note: the quick release plate is not interchangable with Bogen QR plate.

At current price, this tilihead is a steal. A Bogen QR release plate itself would cost more!

The Induro 484-001 tilthead is nicely built at a good price. What I missed though was that while it has a 1/4" male screw to attach to the camera it has a 3/8" female to attach to the monopod. I bought a cheaper non-Induro monopod and then had to buy a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter to make it work. I bought two: a Bogen - Manfrotto 1/4-20 To 3/8" Adapter w/Flange thinking the flange would make it better. I would jam tighter on the monopod than on the tilt head, which meant it stayed on the monopod and I could not put the camera monopod alone. I went with a simple adapter such as the Gitzo GS5000 3/8-Inch to 1/4-20-Inch Reducer Adapter and it stays in the tilthead as needed.

I bought this to go with an Induro monopod and it's a nice combination. It always you to quickly go from landscape to portrait and back again. The release is a bit too tight at first. I really had to push on it, to the point of wondering if I was going to break it, before it would move. With use though, it's gotten easier to latch/unlatch.

This product works easily with SLRs that are below the 5.5 pound load limit. Level is helpful and the monopod and mount are useful and easy to carry in a backpack when shooting nature pictures and have nothing around to use for stability. Product is solid and well made.

The tilt head is nicely finished however the small knob used for tightening doesn't have much holding power; I found my camera constantly sliding out of position. I bought it to complement the Induro MC-24 Carbon 8X Monopod, which by the way is excellent. You might have better luck with the Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Head.
