If you've ever had the benro/induro quick-relaease plat on your camera, you know it's the very best. It's machined aluminum, well-designed, and it's compact enough to leave on even for hand-held work. I don't want to have one camera on the tripod (sorry Ken Rockwell, but I think you're completely wrong about this and many other things) and a second-camera for hand-held shots in the same session. By standardizing all three of my tripods on this mount, I can leave the QR plate on at all times, shoot hand-held, and/or switch between pre-positioned tripods.

I tried other "arca-swiss" style mounts, but they're too big to leave on the camera, and anstead of the elegant "V-groove" on this mount, others use a big old flange... some bigger than the bottom of my D700 in places.

I have to say - this is one more example where benro/induro has added-value in the advancement of their field... and they're not merely a "cheap" asian Gitzo competitor as others have suggested.
