The late 19th and early 20th century brick masonry buildings along the northern edge of Germany and Poland are some of the most beautifully crafted buildings I have ever seen. The countryside and towns have scores of them, especially along the rail lines. Becher has done an excellent job of documenting and presenting these buildings. This book is a gem.

This has the greatest collection of industrial buildings collected. All the structures come from a time when form and functionality were borh given equal weight. Though most of these buildings are founderies or machine shops, the thoughtfullness of their designs were well worth documenting.
