5.0 out of 5 stars best book for air flow jets and capture velocity calculations
I am a thermal designer of electronic equipment and I found this book to be the only one on the subject that has a very extensive coverage of air flow jets and capture velocity calculations. These topics are covered in sections 7.4 and 7.6 of the book. It provides detailed calculations and formulas that can be used to calculate air velocities under different conditions. I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless
This is a totally useless book for practical use. It is only good for university research or if you are in the university. It does not help in solving practical day to day ventilation problems. The Industrial Ventilation Manual is 100 times better for practical use. I returned the book within one day of receiving it. Don't bother spending your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars best book for air flow jets and capture velocity calculations, February 23, 2011
This review is from: Industrial Ventilation Design Guidebook (Hardcover)
I am a thermal designer of electronic equipment and I found this book to be the only one on the subject that has a very extensive coverage of air flow jets and capture velocity calculations. These topics are covered in sections 7.4 and 7.6 of the book. It provides detailed calculations and formulas that can be used to calculate air velocities under different conditions. I use this book a lot when I design fans on electronic systems. All other similar books whether on HVAC or thermal design of electronic systems did not discuss these topics in enough detail that I could apply the information to practical design. I found this book to be very practical for actual designs and I disagree with other reviewers who said that it was too theoretical. Great book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, May 30, 2009

A good reference source to search for other more specific books and papers but not enough practical data to do the design calculations I was hoping to find.
A good starting point for an HVAC novice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Info, January 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Industrial Ventilation Design Guidebook (Hardcover)
This book is good if you're a college professor. I needed something more straight forward and basic for my ventilation needs. And, for the cost, it was not worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, October 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Industrial Ventilation Design Guidebook (Hardcover)
This is a book for those who want to modify and develop "standard solutions" or do not trust them. It requires some effort to use, but the reward is the access to a solid and comprehensive scientific basis for the design of ventilation systems for contaminant control.
The chapter Design Methodology guides you through a systematic and holistic design process.
