life changing book!,
This review is from: The Indwelling Life of Christ: All of Him in All of Me (Hardcover)
As in his other books, Major Ian Thomas challenges us to go beyond the fire-insurance type of salvation into a deep abiding relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. A relationship that acknowledges "I can't" but also embraces "Christ can".
Herein is the key, we cannot live the Christian life in the power of our own strength. God never asked us to. He always promised He would do it for us. Major Thomas will show you how. A must read for every person seeking life abundant.

An Answer to Prayer,
By
This review is from: The Indwelling Life of Christ: All of Him in All of Me (Hardcover)
This is perhaps the best book I've read on Christian Life & the identification truths. One of the short comings of identification literature has been a lack of the 'how to' component, meaning of course how to practically put into practice the principle of 'Not I but Christ.' This, in my opinion, is Thomas' best book, it was a joy to read & has already changed my whole practice of reckoning dead & alive. I've known for a while that Romans 6 was the key & that writers like Thomas, Hudson Taylor, Watchman Nee, Miles Stanford, F. J. Huegel & many others had it right but I could never make it consistently real in my practice beyond the initial 'push.' Thomas has given me a practical methodology (attitude?) where I am now genuinely & actually learning to yield to the Lord potentially in each & every situation so that His life is manifested. I think this was Paul's desire for the Ephesians when he said, 'so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.' What a blessing.

The Answer Right Under Your Nose,
By C. Susan Geraci "reasontogether" (Spring Branch, Texas United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Indwelling Life of Christ: All of Him in All of Me (Hardcover)
For the sincere Christian, the perplexing problem is always a daily struggle of distinguishing between self-effort and simply resting in Christ. 'Simply resting' is a misleading statement. It suggests an act that we can perform ourselves in self effort. This book EXPLAINS to us, revelation upon revelation, how GOD does His work through us.
Read this book as it is suggested, a DAILY 'bite' at a time- and let it sink in and take root. This book will transform your thinking and 'lighten your load'. God is Good!!

The Indwelling Christ,
By
This review is from: The Indwelling Life of Christ: All of Him in All of Me (Hardcover)
This is the fourth book by Major Thomas that I have read and found it to be as good as the first three. I like it's format because it can be read as a devotional over several weeks to allow the truth of what he is saying to "soak in". This book tells Christians how to be the Christians that they have become and focuses on the resurrection. As it takes the death of Christ to become a Christian, so it takes the life of Christ to be that Christian. That's what this book is all about. I highly recommend this book as well as all of Major Ian Thomas' books. -Donald Wheeler

Major Ian Thomas came into my life by cassette tape over 30 years ago. Though I was able to listen to only a handful of his tapes, they had a profound influence on my spiritual development. This title, The Indwelling Life of Christ, is an apt summary of his life-long emphasis.
The short, pointed chapters are meant to be read in a devotional setting. They demand reflection and interaction. There are fifty chapters that one could read daily, or savor one a week for a year. I strongly recommend that you don't just sit down and speed read through this book. Thomas is one of many writers who emphasis the message of God's grace over human efforts and away from today's "performance-driven" Christianity so prevalent in the West. His unique perspective and illustrations will either lead you to a deeper understanding of grace, or reinforce lessons previously learned.

Life as it is supposed to be,
By
This review is from: The Indwelling Life of Christ: All of Him in All of Me (Hardcover)
Many people are trying to live a life they don't have. No wonder they find themselves wondering if there isn't more to life than they are experiencing. Maj. Thomas' book leads the reader through the basic truth that most Christians miss...the exchanged life...Christ living His life through the believer, not the believer trying to live a life for Christ.
Wonderful relief for the one who has tried and burned out.

I'm on my second reading of this book. Such wonderful description and application of the Holy Spirit's work in the life of believers. It's all about God's activity in our lives.

Maj. Ian Thomas writes another convicting, challenging, and edifying book for all who want to know more than the watered-down "easy-believism" that is weakening the church today. I noticed one lone review calls him a quack. Instead, most of the Christian world considers him a giant! He is on the list of best 100 sermons ever preached, has 3 books on the Clarion Classics book list (a conservative Christian publisher), and Thomas' ministry, "Torchbearer's," has 25 Bible centers around the globe. I've heard him speak (live), talked with him, read his books, listened to his tapes. He's the real deal...this book is amazing! Enjoy!

You wouldn't think eternal life would get old, but it does unless you start living it now. Lots of people wonder what comes after salvation and work hard to become "better" and "more like Christ". The fact is, we can't, but Christ, living within us, can. This is Maj. Thomas' central point and, I think, a central truth.
The book is very accessible and designed for short daily readings. |
