I'll have to say that this book Indy Cars 1911-1939: Grat Racers from the crucible of Speed (Ludvigsen Library) is a must have for those interested in pre WWII Indy race cars. High quality photos and decent background info. This one will be a permanent part of my car book library.

This review is from: Indy Cars 1911-1939: Great Racers from the Crucible of Speed (Ludvigsen Library) (Paperback)
Very large, sharp photos of engines and cars from a largely ignored period of Indy 500 racing. Includes a handful of shots of Indy winners from the period as well as shots of innovative cars that either set trends or became one-off failures. The captions are excellent. This is a good companion to any book on the general history of the Indy 500. A general history is usually thorough with the it's text but limited with it's photos. This book is limited in text but rich with photos. Each photo is 6" x 9", leaving just enough room for a thorough caption at the bottom of each page.
