A History Lesson,
By Tritone (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inertia 1 and 2 Rock Climbing DVD (DVD)
I see to sentiments in the reviews:
1) It was the first video of it's kind. It started the current climbing genre. Therefore it has intrinsic worth. 2) The director, Josh Lowell, was young. This was his first video of any consequence, and we see a lot of antics: kickboxing, milk drinking, snot blowing, girl watching, etc. Thankfully Josh managed to grow up a little, and he has been producing some of the best climbing videos in the industry - including King Lines which has garnished awards from across the globe. Like some of the other reviewers, I watch this one with my finger on the fast-forward/skip button. There are a lot of great climbing sequences - and it's fun to see what some of the guys (like Chris Sharma) looked like 10 years ago.

one successful send after another leaves you wanting to see some struggle, conflict, =something= to represent how hard those climbs really are. also fails to identify location of climbs, although name of climb and rating is given. punk music.

New Standard for climbing media,
By Climber chick (CO, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inertia 1 and 2 Rock Climbing DVD (DVD)
This video mirrors the skate/surf style. Which is awesome because those videos and Inertia 1 and 2 are actually entertaining, not lame videos that make me want to take a nap. Inertia is fast-paced with awesome music that got me psyched and ready to go climb and have fun with my friends. If my psych is low, I watch Inertia and get it back.

NOT A CLIMBING VIDEO!,

This is a WASTE of money and should not be called a 'climbing video'!!!
It is the most amateur DVD I have ever bought -my home videos are better-. You have to fast forward all the time; as between VERY VERY SHORT climbing clips are various childish pranks and people skating and boxing. You start watching a climbing scene and puff! someones puking milk... Non-Climbing clips are UNNECESSARILY long and ruin the climbing scenes. I agree with the other reviewers that this should be edited or described properly so people who are looking to watch climbing scenes are not fooled into spending $25 on this. Should be categorized as a home made glimpse into climbers lives or something. NOT a sports/climbing for sure! I do not recommend this video at all!!!

Not a bad video as far as just the climbing sequences are considered but the intermediate sequences are just innapropriate. Climbers are not the kind of creazy people we see in the intermediate section nor are we necessarely amateur of kick boxing. I was deceived to see that climbing was associated with Jackass activity.I have take this video as a practice for a new producer who was short on tape. I do not recommend this video at all

This is the first climbing DVD I ever bought... And it is still the only DVD I watch over and over to get motivated to go climb. So much good climbing on hard routes! Action Direct, Book Of Hate, Sharma, the list goes on and on... Super Classic.

Some great climbing w/ a lot of junk included for no reason.,

There are some great climbing scenes in these videos. The problem I have is every other segment is some childish scene of someone puking milk, a closeup of someone snot rocketing (yes, you read that right), running around on barriers on a crowded highway, or some other dumb high school prank. I could deal with the headbanger music, and with a close up or two of girls [...], but the frequency of the other foolish segments and the fact they are sequenced roughly every other chapter just ruins the entire video. You can't watch the climbing without being subject to some crap scene. Someone should edit these two videos down to just climbing and we'd have an acceptable video - probably 4 stars. If all the junk was at the end in one segment it might not be as bad, but mixing them into the entire video was a poor choice (as if making those segments in the first place wasn't). If I had it to do over, I'd pass on spending $30 on this and buy another copy of Dosage 2 (the Psicobloc chapters are great).

This is the best climbing DVD I've bought. Tons of hard climbing, sweet soundtrack, and antics. I get psyched to go climb everytime I watch it. Sharma and crew are bad ass. Finally a video with no BS just straight climbing and music. PS The bonus footage and director comments are worth buying the dvd just for that! Hillarious!

I love the raw energy of this video. I think the shooting style enhances Dusatko's style. My climber and non-climber friends ask to watch this DVD over and over. It's a classic to me...

A History Lesson,
This review is from: Inertia 1 and 2 Rock Climbing DVD (DVD)
I don't think the other reviewers realize this is the original bouldering and sport climbing video. Inertia 1 was shot in 1998 from what I remember. We wouldn't have the Josh Lowells and the numerous other bouldering videos if Inertia hadn't paved the way. Inertia redefined climbing video format, so get over it!
