I realize the way in which the following happened is odd, but I just want to let others know so it won't happen to them. We'd purchased the giggle ball for our son when he was around six months old. He enjoyed holding it and shaking it and watching as we rolled it around. It does have some educational merit, I believe, as it teaches cause and effect (Shake it and hear the giggle) and it helps babies' motor skills development. However, there is a dangerous aspect to this toy that far outweighs any educational or fun merit it holds. We travel quite a bit and would take the giggle ball in the Jeep with us on road trips. The sun and heat apparently softened the plastic tubing of which the ball is primarily comprised and the tubing broke when my son was playing with the ball one day. He is now one and was crawling or toddling and either sat or stepped on the ball causing the tubing to snap. My husband scooped up the colored shapes, which had slid off the tubing, and these shapes are small enough for my son to have put them in his mouth and choked. I am truly grateful we discovered this before he had a chance to do this or even entertain the thought. I would not buy this toy in the future until the company can assure us nothing of the sort will happen again.

I bought this toy for my son when he was 7 months old. He played with it for a few minutes and now doesn't give it a glance. It doesn't giggle the way it is supposed to either. Even I have to shake it pretty hard to get any noise out of it. Overall....A WASTE of MONEY!

Giggle Ball,

My son received this toy as a gift for his first birthday. He played with it four a day or two and hasn't touched it since. I think it's a good toy for babies about 9 months old for the color and sound stimulation, but not for children very much older than that. I agree with one review that it's mostly just a rattle. You have to shake it pretty hard to make it "giggle". Otherwise, the giggle noise is very slow and sad sounding.
