4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!
We got this as a gift and it was a hit with my son (6 months old then) right away! He loves to take out the animals and chew on them and he's been able to figure out how to open the barn door to get at the letters inside (8 months old now)! My only complaint is that the barn door doesn't open when the animals are in place. As far as cleaning, we just put the whole thing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable enough
My daughter got this when she was 6 months old, so she was a little young to truly appreciate it for what you're supposed to actually do with it. That being said, she really did enjoy crawling over to it, pulling out the animals and either crawling away with them or sucking on them, and they are large enough that I didn't have to worry about her choking or getting them...

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable enough, February 5, 2010
This review is from: Infantino Barn Shape Sorter (Baby Product)
My daughter got this when she was 6 months old, so she was a little young to truly appreciate it for what you're supposed to actually do with it. That being said, she really did enjoy crawling over to it, pulling out the animals and either crawling away with them or sucking on them, and they are large enough that I didn't have to worry about her choking or getting them stuck in throat. Now that she's older, she really enjoys the clock, chickens and spinning thing on the sides. She's not so crazy about the letters-they are difficult to get into the holes unless you line them up just right AND push them in-she doesn't really have the patience for that. She does still enjoy the animals, although most of the time she pulls them off, opens the barn door and plays farm. As a sorting toy, it's lacking, but if you have a child who is creative, like most kids, they will surprise you and end up using it for something other than what it was intended-in this case, playing farm, not learning shapes. Either way, the bright colors are fun and it provides some good entertainment. I LOVE it because it makes NO NOISE!!! So that gives me a break from all the songs, voices, and funny instructions that many of her other toys have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, April 2, 2008

This is a great shape sorter. I didn't have the previous one, but my daughter did have three other ones and I liked this one the best. You can play with the animals as well as sort the shapes they are standing in and the letters are also for sorting as well as practicing your abcs. It doesn't come with any talking or music-which I happen to really like. It has a little clock on the side and is great for imaginative play. We brought this toy with us on a 15 day vacation and my 18 month old daughter found many ways to play with it besides shape sorting. It is true that if the animals are in place, you can't open the barn door, but that just made her work on taking them out and putting them back in again. We really enjoy this toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple toy but classic fun, October 12, 2009

This is a very simple toy, doesn't make noise, basic shape sorter. And we like it! My son is under 12 months, but he enjoys handling the animals, opening the barn door, and I go over the letters and animal names with him. It's easy to clean, which I like. I'd say this is good from over 6 months to whenever they get bored with it. It's a colorful toy at a reasonable price! (if you get it on sale, like I did!)

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks can be deceiving, November 20, 2008

I purchased this shape sorter for my son when he was 1 year old. In the package it looks very cute. Out of the package, the pieces are much less sturdy looking (all of the animal and letter pieces are hollow and bottomless which I wasn't expecting). The sorter is also a lot harder to complete than I anticipated. My son is able to do this now at 15 months, but with some difficulty. The pieces themselves are very colorful and my son just liked to drag them around the house. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you cannot open the barn door if the animals are in their slots in front. Most of the time the animals are everywhere else but in their slots for this reason - my son is more interested in putting the letters through the roof and taking them out through the door.

I don't like this sorter as much as the traditional fisher-price that he also has - the plastic these pieces are made of is more apt to crack or shatter and has no give so if your child is a big chewer be very careful. My son loves this toy so it does have kid-appeal value, but I was disappointed in the quality for the $10 I spent on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this, January 16, 2012

I don't know why, but my 11mo old loves this toy. Well worth $10, maybe worth $50 for how much he plays with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome shape sorter with animals too!, January 12, 2012

This was purchased as a gift for my daughter a couple of years ago before she was one... and both of my children love it and play with it still (1 yr and 3.5 yr). I purchased this one to give back to the person who gave it to my daughter when they had their first child. It is such a fun toy. Has the ABCD shapes that go in the top, each animal has different shaped holes to stand in. And you open the barn door to get all the shapes out. Only draw back, you can't open the door when the animals are in their spots. And the door handle is a little difficult for my 1 yr old to grasp. Also has other little play things on the side, but my kids ignore those.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter's FAVORITE toy from about 13 months to about 20 months, December 1, 2011
This review is from: Infantino Barn Shape Sorter (Baby Product)
My daughter LOVED this toy. It kept her busy many an evening while I made supper. She loves the animals and the letters. She very much abused this and it held up perfectly. I would find the little figures all over the house, cutely arranged in little vignettes. I think the letters were definitely hard at first, but isn't that the point? If you buy a toy and your kid can immediately figure it out, then you've wasted your money. It made a great first birthday present and was very fun to "show" her how to play with it. She spent many careful hours rotating, examining, and trying to fit each piece (in fact, she wasn't satisfied until each animal faced OUT). This toy taught her to persevere and be patient. I definitely recommend this toy to anyone with a young toddler! I wouldn't bother for any kid under a year though. They'll just drool on it or throw the pieces around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was a instant hit with my 1 year old., November 27, 2011
This review is from: Infantino Barn Shape Sorter (Baby Product)
Out of all the toys my 12 month son got for Christmas this oddly enough turned out to be one of his favorite. The crazy thing was it was prob the cheapest of all his gifts! He is about to turn two and doesn't play with it as much bc I think its just to easy for him. I would recommend it for a 1 year old not a 2 year old. 1 year olds like all the little pieces I think. It was neat to see my son slowly learn to sort the ABCD's.

I'm not sure it's the toy or my son but he's really not into shape sorters. He's 13 months old now and still has no interest in trying to put the letters in the holes or the animal shapes in their place. He does like the pieces to chew on though. And I do like that this shape sorter doesn't have a lid that can be taken off easily preventing shape sorting. All in all, I like this toy, my son is just not so interested in it...yet.
