I contacted infantino before buying these and they informed me they were pthalate and bpa free. I later came to learn (and this was confirmed by infantino) that they are made of PVC. Be careful of companies "green-washing" their products. I feel so bad that I let my little girl put these in her mouth! :( I returned them and amazon luckily gave me a full refund.

Bought these for my 3-month-old. She's 7-months old now and still plays with them. These balls are soft and squishable. So, when she was smaller, she would just grab a ball and mouth it. When she was learning to sit up, I could recline her on some pillows and drop a ball into her lap, saying "Here comes the red/green/etc ball" each time. Now that she's older, we have other fun games. They don't bounce much; so they are good for indoor games. She can sit in my lap about 4-5 feet from the wall, and I can throw the balls against the wall for her to watch them roll back to us. I bought an old six-compartment muffin tin and put a ball in each compartment for her to take out (she's just starting to try to put them back). When she played in her kiddie pool, the balls would float ... and she'd grab them and mouth them. Be aware that each ball has one hole in it. This makes for fun when you compress the ball and let air blow out the hole into her face. But it also makes cleaning the balls a bit more inconvenient. I can only imagine some of her saliva has gotten in there, yet I am hesitant to fill them with soapy water because I won't ever get it all out. But this is, IMHO, a minor problem.
UPDATE: After many months of mouthing these balls, baby got enough saliva into them (and mommy didn't clean them well enough) that they started to grow mold inside! I noticed the mold when sunlight shone through one of the lighter colored balls. So, they need frequent and thorough cleaning (i.e. make sure plenty of warm vinegar water gets in there, sloshes around, and gets out completely so baby doesn't suck it out). If you have time/energy for that, great. Me? I threw them away.

Great toy for exploring textures and colors, and for doing all the other fun things balls can do. The red ball actually feels really awful to me (it's kind of pokey), and I don't like holding it, but they yellow ball is definitely the least favorite for both of my kids, I think because it is the least ball-like. These toys do have a slight odor, but it doesn't bother me and I'm usually really sensitive to smells. The balls are all hollow and they all have a small hole in them; you can squeeze air out of the balls through this hole and then the balls will regain their shape. I only mention this because I was not expecting that, and I think it gives a better idea of what the balls are like.

I bought these balls for my one-year-old, but my almost three-year-old loves them as well. I think they maybe are a little expensive for what they are (I would put them in the $5 - $8 range), but my kids are happy, so I'm happy.

Bought these for my son when he was 9 months, and they are perfect. He loved the different textures. They helped him work out his grasping skills (and accidental bonking Maman in the head skills), and now a month later, he likes to chew these with his 8 pearly whites. They hold up well and are easy to clean.

These are great balls! We got them for my one year old for Christmas and he loves them. I love that each ball has a distinct texture, and they are easily graspable for his little hands. Our little one likes to throw them (lightweight), organize them (in and out of the neat box they came in) and just run around with one in his hand. I also like the quality - I felt that for little plastic balls, these ones seem sturdy and aren't brittle.

This ball set was not as fun as I expected. The balls are very hard and difficult for little hands to hold. The yellow ball that looks like a mine is pretty great because it's almost like a ball covered with pacifiers.. other than that, it wasn't what I expected.

I got these for my 8 month old baby and they encouraged her to start crawling. (She chased after one that rolled away). These are hollow so they are easy for her little hands to grab and squish. All the textures are great for tactile learning and they help her keep a grip. We roll these around the living room and she just has a great time going after them and chewing on them. I am very pleased with this purchase.
