The author reads his own book, yes the female voices ARE strange/funny. At first it was very jarring to me. I got used to it, and it did not diminish my enjoyment of this story. The funny thing is that the author actually apologizes for his female voices in the special thanks part of the book (last cd after the reading is finished) The author is really a do-it yourself kid of guy, he makes up voices for all of his characters. this makes it very easy to follow along, and know who is talking. Ideally the audio book would be read by a full cast, but that is not always financially viable. I have listened to other audio books where the reader does not make voices for each character and it can be tough to know what character is speaking at any given time. This is a good compromise.

I will say that I really enjoyed this story, and the authors reading of it. This is the authors book, and you can tell he loves his work. His enthusiasm for the subject matter comes through in his reading.

Now on to the story: without spoiling anything, the story starts off as a mystery, but quickly moves into science fiction. Of particular note is the authors absolutely perfect telling of a person loosing their mind and becoming paranoid. I really don't want to spoil any of the book, as I enjoyed it and wouldn't have wanted anyone else to ruin it for me! :)

As a word of warning, there are parts of this book that will make you feel physically ill. in a good way. really. I am a pretty desensitized guy, but WOW. So if you are squimish, be ready to skip whole sections of this book :)

If you are looking for AAA hollywood audio books, check out world war z. its amazing and has a full cast.

If you want to hear a scary story in the vein of Stephen kings goriest, this is a great choice. I highly recommend it.

This Audio Book is very entertaining, Yet Disgusting. It's great for a road trip. My mother Got really intersted in the story after the first few chapters. I thought she would have a conniption fit but she really enjoyed it as well. I really enjoyed the story and while listening to it, I kept itching thinking what I would be like if I had voices in my head lol. I hope this review helps someone if not oh well. Pick up the book or Audio book you will love it!!!!!

I hadn't read the book before I listened to the audio version, so my opinion is just based on it. I found it very nice. The voices, especially of Ms Montoya may be hilarious at times, but it is consistent, and the characters are easily recognizable.

I'd say the twists and turns of the plot confused me a bit, but it was more than compensated by the creativity of the author, who should also consider acting as a side job. After the audio version, I decided to buy the printed book.

the author's reading of his 'Directors Cut' of Infected. At first I was a bit wary. I've had more than one bad experience with authors reading their own work. This was not one of those experiences. I truly enjoyed listening to him. Aside from the book being unbelievably gory (right up my alley) and its smooth vacillation between horror, sci-fi, and the first hand account of a mind going sideways, I enjoyed this audiobook. I am working to get his other books into the public library. Now if only I could convince them of Michael Slade...

Infected is an amazing ride! I've listened to it 3 times already as well as everything else I can get my ears around from Scott. The story is "Contagious"!!!! I have the Audio and written book (NEEDED) to get the little insight into Contagious. In my opinion NOBODY should read for his audio books BUT Scott Sigler! I am SO excited to learn he will be reading CONTAGIOUS! I love it when he does a female character. Oh, and don't just stop with Infected, Ancestor, Blood Cast 1 & 2 and Nocturnal are great reads as well!

I am reviewing the reading of this audio book, not the contents of the book itself because I did not finish the book. No, make that, could not finish the book. This is one of the worst reading of an audio book that I have ever come across. The Reader's voice was monotonous and his rendition of a female voice literally made the hairs on my back stand!! It is so bad that I simply could not finish the book even though I was down to the last few chapters. If you are new to audio books, please DON'T DON'T start with this book. It will turn you off audio books. Money back guarantee. I was trying so hard to find out the name of the Reader so that I can avoid future encounters with his works but I could not find it anywhere. If anyone knows it, do everyone a favour and post it here.
