Delirium is a medical emergency and it s underlying cause must be identified and treated immediately. If the cause is not identified the repercussions can be potentially deadly. At the very least, complications increase morbidity, the risk for long-term placement and healthcare costs. This book is intended to educate the healthcare professional on the early recognition of delirium, lending itself to early intervention. A few of the topics covered include: clinical presentation, prevention, risk factors, clinical course, assessment, and management.
