This book is excellent for field practitioners and the range of topics covered is quite comprehensive. The writing style takes and easy to read, conversational approach.

Book came in time for class. However, I was a little taken back at the loose hairs that were stuck between the pages and falling out as I was reading.

The horrendous incompetence of NIH and CDC including the Epidemiology Intelligence Service (EIS) in bungling this pandemic is an instructive case study in what not to do (eg. don't ski the whole time when you are supposed to be investigating the Tahoe outbreak). I haven't read the whole book yet but am a little surprised at how many typographical/editing errors I've noticed. The vaccine chapter is quite out of date for a book copyright 2007. On the whole, though, it's a readable book by people who seem to be recognized authorities.
