More About the Author

Michael J. Webb graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida and obtained his J. D. from the same university. Over the past forty years he has travelled the world in search of adventure.

He has always been fascinated by the intersection of the supernatural, the historical, the scientific, and the the Judeo-Christian worldviews. He writes stories that ignite imaginations and stir souls, edge-of-your-seat thrillers that combine those elements, and more, with fascinating characters and suspenseful plots. If you are intriqued by such things as traditional and forbidden history, the origins of demons and their influence on mankind throughout the ages, quantum physics, and the unseen war in the heavenlies between angelic forces and agents of darkness, you will enjoy reading all of his supernatural thrillers.

“There is always a price to pay,” she continued, “for walking in the authority and power of the Lord.” (Tabitha to the group of warriors gathered in her home)

Michael J Webb’s latest book, Infernal Gates, has been the most unusual reading experience I’ve had it quite some time. I found myself alternately mesmerized and frustrated. Let me explain. The premise of the book reflects an almost obsessive fascination with spiritual warfare. The elements of this warfare have been meticulously researched as reflected by the intricate details drawn from a myriad of cultures and belief systems. While I don’t deny the powerful war that wages in the spiritual realm, I don’t believe for a moment that the enemy and his demonic legions have the slightest possibility of coming close to usurping God’s plan for humanity. I suppose it makes for a good fictional plot, but for me, it came dangerously close to crossing the boundaries of spiritual truth, and I'd be highly uncomfortable recommending this book to a non-believer.

That said, the nuggets of spiritual truth embedded within the story were both powerful and challenging for a believer. Many will identify with the struggles faced by both Ethan and Sam as they must face and overcome the tragic life-circumstances brought to bear on their lives. The roles they play in the spiritual battle they are called to face in this story are both classic and epic!

I will have to state plainly that this book requires serious leaps into suspended disbelief! Infernal Gates must be read with a very open mind or you will never make to the final pages. This is a fantastical tale that is heavy on details and long on internal mental rambling. I prefer a little tighter read, but that’s just my personal preference.

Michael Webb writes thrillers the way I like them - layer upon layer of tension that steadily builds until you find yourself unwilling to stop reading. It is the same with his latest book. A dramatic air crash in the first chapter brings the reader right into the action, as Ethan Freeman, ex-Special Forces Ranger, wakes up to learn that he is the only survivor. His whole family is dead. And soon he finds himself trapped in a labyrinth from which there would seem to be no escape. The strange thing is that though I love international thrillers, I'm not generally a big fan of supernatural thrillers. But I did enjoy this book, as I have enjoyed previous books by the same author, and would recommend it.

“Is there one word to describe this experience of reading Michael J. Webb’s novel Infernal Gates?” I asked myself upon closing the last page of the epilogue. Undoubtedly, numerous expressive words in the dictionary including a few expletives could define this absorbing story, but they just can’t be narrowed down to one. Being a first time reader of Mr. Webb’s writing, I was riveted down to my painted toenails after the first page! Where is this man going with this story?

Well reader friends, Michael J Webb was going many places in different directions, up and down and all around. At times, I had trouble keeping up with the pace and read many paragraphs and pages over again – not that it was confusing – only my 75 year old mind wasn’t grasping the mystery of the moment…and that’s exactly what this story is, an exhilarating mind blowing mystery of distinct possibilities, even though they might seem unrealistic to the unbeliever or the not so caught up in Christian beliefs personality.

In all fairness, I need to allow each prospective reader to learn of these mysteries on their own, so their reading experience of Infernal Gates will be as unique as the author deems. I have read many of the prior reviews which spoke about some of the events, relationships and storylines involved, and I will refrain from being repetitive. Personally, I have no objection about any minor cursing or one romantic kiss in this story – as in real life, we imperfect humans fail ourselves daily to be free of sin, we need to accept the forgiveness Jesus freely offers, and go beyond bias to accept that the real issue in this story in the spiritual warfare going on about us constantly because we are not of this world – but we must live in this world until Christ returns.

This is the first book I have ever read by Michael Webb but it will not be the last. Infernal Gates takes you on a wild ride and I found myself immediately and completely engaged on every page...there are no lags...it is intense from beginning to end. I loved all the geographical, historical, spiritual and supernatural elements that were so ingeniously blended together into the storyline. Very well done!!
I also appreciated the way it was "salted" with wisdom and revelation from the Lord without feeling religious. There is a great depth to be mined from this book. There was an impartation from the Lord that came through reading it and so even though I have finished its pages, they haven't finished with me!

Michael J. Webb in his new book, "Infernal Gates" published by Michael J. Webb Books introduces us to Ethan Freeman.

From the back cover: IS ETHAN FREEMAN AMERICA'S WORST TERRORIST, OR SOMETHING MUCH MORE EXTRAORDINARY?

Ethan Freeman, ex-Special Forces Ranger, wakes up to discover he is the sole survivor of a fiery commercial airline crash that killed his entire family. His nightmare is only beginning when he becomes the FBI's prime suspect. Only Ethan knows he's not a cold-hearted murderer, but he has no idea what happened to him-and why he alone survived.
He finds an unlikely ally in Sam Weaver, the NTSB Chief Investigator. An ex-military pilot, Sam senses Ethan is innocent. She tries to remain dispassionate in her investigation of the crash even as she finds herself attracted to the man who may be America's worst homegrown mass-murderer.

Neither Ethan nor Sam realize that shadowy spiritual forces are at work which will alter their lives forever. A monstrous evil, imprisoned since the time of the Pharaohs, has been released by The Nine, a sinister group of powerful men and women who believe they are the direct descendants of the Anunnaki, ancient Sumerian gods. The demon they have unleashed intends to free The Destroyer from The Abyss, the angelic prison referred to in the Book of Revelation, and unleash a worldwide reign of terror and annihilation.

Facing impossible odds, time is running out for Ethan and all of humanity as he is drawn into an ever-deeper conspiracy-millennia in the making-and learns that he is the key to stopping The Nine. He must overcome his deepest fears and find reserves of strength he never knew he had as he confronts pure evil in order to save himself and an unsuspecting world.
