2.0 out of 5 stars Anna Espinosa is a love-sick crazy woman
I've only read one other book in the series, Recruited, which I thought was pretty good. I was looking forward to learning more about Sydney and Anna Espinosa's relationship and how it began. I was sorely disappointed by Anna's lack of depth. I couldn't believe that she was being portrayed as a jealous psychopath, end of story. A psychopath she may be, but I would have...

Sydney's been keeping her summer free for some mission, but Sloan hasn't told her what it is yet. But now she gets the call. She's to travel to Moscow and infiltrate K-Directorate, gaining their trust, only to put a virus into their system. Since K-Directorate is a dangerous rogue agency dedicated only to getting a profit, Sydney is more then willing to go, even if it means leaving for six weeks.

Once there, she discovers that things might not be so rosy. One of her SD-9 contacts is burned out. And watching Anna Espinosa single out an agent for the ultimate discipline her first day makes her wonder if she'll survive the six-week mission. But suddenly, things begin to go wrong, and she has no choice but to see this mission to its completion, even if it means her life.

I've been enjoying these looks at Sydney's life as a spy before the show began. Here, we get a mission plus the first of many meetings between Sydney and Anna. (They really need to bring her back to the show!) While the last few books have blown me away with character development, this one was a little lacking in that regard. A couple of the plot twists seemed a little strange as well. Still, it was an entertaining read that kept me turning pages to see how in the world Syd would make it home safe this time.

While not as outstanding as other books, this is still a fun read that will entertain any fan of the show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sydney is undercover and amazing!, October 5, 2004

This review is from: Infiltration (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
Infiltration is one of the best books in the Alias series. The book describes Sydney's experience as an agent infiltrating K-directorate. As usual, the author manages to keep you in suspense. Sydney does seem a little naive at the onset but she quickly learns on the job. She learns how to become more confident and look more confident from another female agent working with her. As the story progresses, K-directorate finds out that they have a double agent working among them. Sydney's cover seems to be blown. What will she do next?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of The Series, December 30, 2004
By
This review is from: Infiltration (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
Now that the prequel series is over, I can soundly say that this was the best installment, followed closely by Shadowed, Vanishing Act, and Father Figure. The fact that it was writter by one of the actual writers of the show (as was Vanishing Act) may have something to do with this.
By far the most realistic and show-like of the series, Sydney goes undercover in K-Directorate. The mission is tense and filled with twists, including the introduction of Anna Espinosa, Sydney's season one rival who will soon be returning for season four.

If you're an Alias fan who's been considering reading the series, skip the others and read from this book on. And don't bother with Skin Deep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ever Wonder Why Anna Espinosa Hates Sydney?, June 20, 2005

INFILTRATION takes place the summer after rookie SD-6 agent Sydney Bristow's freshman year of college. Sloan sends her on a mission to infiltrate K-Directorate as a junior agent and upload a virus to their network which will allow access to SD-6. Here, Sydney meets the formidable Anna Espinosa, who will become her major rival during the first season of the television show. Sydney's cover is blown, so she must outsmart the malicious and sneaky Anna to successfully finish her mission.

A good entry in the Alias series, I would rank it as a tie for the second best story line of these books. Good entertainment for Alias junkies, but would probably not appeal to those who are not already fans of the show.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sydney is going in..., November 11, 2006

Spy team SD-6 wants a way into their enemies' organization, K-Directorate. And they're going to send 19-year old Sydney in to pose as a recruit and then to contaminate K-Directorate with a virus. It may be Sydney's most dangerous mission yet, but she's willing to go for it.

When her partner agent is murdered and extraction from the mission becomes impossible, Sydney is left on her own...what will she do?

As all Alias novels are, this one is packed with adrenaline-rushing excitement and suspense. This one won't let you down!

2.0 out of 5 stars Anna Espinosa is a love-sick crazy woman, March 5, 2005

I've only read one other book in the series, Recruited, which I thought was pretty good. I was looking forward to learning more about Sydney and Anna Espinosa's relationship and how it began. I was sorely disappointed by Anna's lack of depth. I couldn't believe that she was being portrayed as a jealous psychopath, end of story. A psychopath she may be, but I would have appreciated a bit more in depth writing about her. I simply don't buy that Sydney and Anna have this incredible rivalry simply because Anna believes Syd "stole" her boyfriend!
It makes me sad, and angry that someone who wrote for the TV show could portray any one of its characters so shallowly. Even if Anna is the bad guy (girl) she should still have a strong personality. Just my two cents.

This book has an magnificent plot, and was written by an alias episode writer so you know'll it'll be good. This book finds sydney travelling to Moscow to download a virus into K-directorate's computer network. This book starts the ongoing rivalry between Sydney and foe Anna Espinosa. This book has so many twists and turns, and has the best plot ever written for Alias in my opinion. It also shows how sydney goes from a innocent child to grown up spy, all in one book. This book is so amazing you'll read it over and over, seriously an awesome book.

I have read all the ALIAS books so far, and INFILTRATION is THE BOOK.... the introduction of the rivalry between Sidney and Anna Espinosa, Sidney's doubts, using her femme fatal appeal for the first time... It brings back memories of the episodes were all these qualities and adventures lured you every week. If you are ready to read an ALIAS book this is the one... if you are a true fan, a non believer this is the place to begin your adventure with Miss Bristow.
