1.0 out of 5 stars Are you kidding me??? July 12, 2012

I got this app a while ago and spent however long making enough pottery through the game to buy all of the materials, colors and brushes. It was fun at the time but I haven't played in a while. I noticed there was an update and I hit update without reading the notes about it. while it was downloading I glanced at the notes and saw that now this app is using real money? I thought that was weird but maybe that means there are new materials to play with. I opened the app when the update was done and found all of the materials I previously purchased throughout the course of the original game play GONE. What the heck?? Now I have to do ALL of that work all over again AND pay real money for lame materials I had already obtained?? Forget that! Honestly, I don't know how the real money comes into play but after finding out that everything I did before was wiped out I don't even want to play long enough to see if its even worth my time. So very disappointed with this app.

1.0 out of 5 stars PAYMIUM SCAM July 15, 2012

This is less of a game and more of an activity. That being said, its a fairly enjoyable way to kill off some time on a lazy afternoon. Making the pottery allows you to tap into your creative side, and, tho the actual modifications you can make to the pottery are limited to shape there is still a lot of variance for you to play with. Mistakes are easily fixed and there is no stress at all in trying to accomplish the goals that are set for you.

Graphically this application is below average. The finished pottery renders nicely, however, the rest of the game looks very dated. The bokeh effect on the home screen is nice, but, becomes an eyesore after awhile. The graphics accomplish all that they need too, but, they do so without any real sense of style. For an app that is centered on art and creativity I find the graphics to be a little too generic.

The sounds and music are very simple surburan wallah. The wallah comes off well tho. The chirping birds and breezy outdoor sounds compliment the relaxing style of the game well, yet, do not overshadow or distract from the players focus.

Controlling the pottery creation is simple and intuitive. The accelerometer allows you to easily change the viewing angle of the window on the pottery wheel, and although it feels a little unintuitive at first due to working on a reverse axis, it soon becomes second nature. Styling or painting the pottery can be rather imprecise , especially on a phone due to the fact that the touch zones are a little larger than an actual finger........ however they work very well if you use a stylus.

I can't really rate this as a "game" because it wouldn't be fair considering that it doesn't really meet the standard criteria for the average game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Let Create dissapointed kids. February 23, 2012
Verified Purchase
So Im taking care of the Niece and Nephew for the weekend, and they cant put these Kindle Fires down. When they found out I had one, I was once again part of the cool kids club. Anyway I remembered a game that I saw during Christmas that seemed fun, so we searched and found it... "Let's Create Pottery". The download was $4.99, the the highest I've seen so far. So we each downloaded it, so we could each practice on doing our own. Thats 3 Kindles, $15. Shaping went fine, Cooking went fine, but when it came time to Paint, there was no icon. We checked the directions, and they indicated that there should have been an icon. There was also a mention of going online to purchase credits to open up new material, but we couldnt find that either. So heres the problems I see...

$4.99 is pretty steep for an App.
At $4.99 you shouldnt have to buy anything else.
Theres no Customer Support for these App's, we went through the process of writing an email to Amazon 4 days ago... Nothing.
You cant get your money back on these things!

Heres the Math:

3 dissapointed cool kids - $15 + No recourse = No Bueno.

Free App's only for me until theres a Guarantee...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun pottery app July 15, 2012

I had been debating whether or not to buy this app for $5 for the last few weeks. It looked fun, but that's a lot to spend on an app that I might only play for 10 minutes. I was thrilled to see that it was the FAOTD today. I am overall pretty impressed with it. I understand the frustration with IAP, but with this game you can also be patient and accumulate money by selling pottery to upgrade everything. I've already got a lot of new colors and designs just in playing with my daughter for 30 minutes this morning. There are so many neat things to buy for your pottery like: handles, lids, many cultural designs, kids designs, different materials and a palate of colors.

You can create whatever you want, fire it, decorate it and then sell it in an auction. Then use your money from the auction to buy more stuff in the store. There's also what I guess I could call a campaign mode where you are sent orders with a picture of what to make. You make it as close to the picture as possible and send it off and get money for that. I'm a little annoyed that the sound can't be turned off so I have to use my devices volume rocker to get it quiet. I'm playing on a 10" tablet, I can imagine it might be difficult to control the fine details on a phone because even on a table I was having a hard time getting the colors exactly where I want them.

Overall, I'm really happy with this game/activity. It's great for all ages. I think $5 is a little steep for it, but there is a lot to it. While I don't necessarily agree with IAP, I can have plenty of fun with it without having to spend any extra money.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth the money
My daughter spent her money on this game thinking she'd get materials that weren't on the free iPhone version, but it's no different. This is a huge waste of money.
