This is an excellent book that covers a subject that can be a bit difficult to research because there are very few resources on which to depend. The artists that are in the book and the way in which the subjects are catagorized make this extremely useful. I would call it a roadmap to anyone interested in the use of caricature and satire in art.

A thematic survey with nicely reproduced illustrations, but the book should be subtitled, "Some items from the Met's collection", which apparently doesn't include Punch, Simplicissimus, Judge, Puck, or any of the remarkable French, Russian, or other European magazines of political satire from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
