Book Description

*Special note: This is a true series, meaning that it is not a stand alone. Each book in the series wraps up the conflict within the book, but the overall story continues on to the next book. I also want to direct you to my website where you can download and print out the charts that can be difficult to read on electronic devices ( That way you can keep it nearby as you read. Happy reading!

Maya’s shocked to discover it’s not the heaven she imagined; in fact, a life of adventure begins the moment you die.

Zachariah, her faithful spirit guide, explains the rules of the dead: in order to regain complete awareness and reunite with loved ones all souls must review their previous lives.

Maya plunges warily into her turbulent pasts as a sociopathic High Priest in ancient Egypt; an independent mother protecting a dangerous secret in glorious Sparta; an Irish boy kidnapped and enslaved by Vikings; and a doctor’s wife forced to make an ethical stand in plague-ridden England.

All the while, Maya yearns to be with those she cares about most and worries that she hasn’t learned all of heaven’s most vital lessons. Will she be forced to leave the tranquility of heaven to survive yet another painful and tumultuous life? Or worse, accept the bitter reality of having to go back alone?

4.0 out of 5 stars First class works of historical fiction November 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Am I having another morphine dream? Did I slip into a coma? Where am I?

Interesting start to a book about Lazrina/Maya, who finds herself dead and speaking to her spirit guide Zachariah. From this point on, Lazrina/Maya finds herself in a place where she must now revisit all her past lives and live through the lessons each one has to teach her. This is the place between lives where she will review her past and learn her lessons.

She has four lives reviewed in this book; Ancient Egypt, Sparta, Ireland/Viking Invasions and England at the time of the Black Death. Each life story is actually a vignette of that life, of a particular series of events that portray Lazrina/Maya in a situation that will teach her some meaning that she needs to be aware of from that life.

About the research done on these time periods; I found them to be very accurate in their overall appearance, which made the stories that much more interesting. I am a bit of an ancient history buff and the culture and life styles of the times represented appear to be well researched and accurate. The author provides a short bibliography at the end of the book, and I recognized some of the titles and was pleased that the author used recognized historians for her research. It made the fiction that much more realistic and appealing. Very well done!

I also did appreciate the little tables at the end of each chapter that showed the associations between the characters of one story and the next. It did help to keep the continuity for me, the reader.

The disappointment came in the Epilogue. First, the stories ran out, and after reading the Epilogue, I was not really satisfied with the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read! November 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The premise of this book immediately grabbed me, and kept hold of me throughout the entire novel. Imaginative, well-written, and page-turning, Infinite Sacrifice kept me up reading when I really should have been studying for class. I cannot recommend it enough! I'm a fairly finicky reader, but the characters were so engaging and the plot so intricate I could not put it down. The price is super reasonable, so I definitely recommend buying it!

3.0 out of 5 stars "Just the Reincarnated facts maam" May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
* Thank you to the author, L. E. Waters, for allowing me to be a Early Reviewer on the JeepDiva Blog [...].*

AUTHOR: L. E. Waters is the author of (2) books, Infinite Sacrifice and Infinite Devotion. While I have not read Infinite Devotion, she appears...yezzzzz, a "she" author, appears to write from a total historical perspective which means somebody has been doing a whole lot of research. She has a great explanation website [...]. Go to the Historical Info tab which will help understand the various reincarnated lives in this book.

As the Spirit Guide Zachariah leads, Maya must recall past lives before being allowed to move forward to either being reincarnated again or ending the journey. What has Maya learned from past lives is the true question.

HISTORY: This book is labeled as a reincarnation fantasy saga. Let's see. We have the life as a male Egyptian priest; a Spartan young woman, a Irish young boy captured by Vikings and a young English woman during the times of the Black Plague.

HUMOR: Very little humor as the book concentrates more on looking at past lives.

FAVORITE PART: Depends on what time period that you enjoy. Personally I enjoyed the Irish boy sent to (I think Denmark ? perhaps) Viking land. He did return briefly to his home and what he did there totally floored me. Noooo, I will not tell you because it will ruin the story.

LEAST FAVORITE PART: Dialogue with the spirit guide in the beginning and the end of the book. Some books have "too" much descriptive content and very little dialogue. Some books have "too" much dialogue and very little descriptive content. Both are quite boring when one or the other is overemphasized.

4.0 out of 5 stars Infinitely Interesting June 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Infinite Sacrifice is the first book in the series by L.E. Waters and the premise is fascinating. Waters clearly did her homework as she takes Maya through the ages in various forms. What you read is true to the time, and it shows. You know you're in Egypt when Maya is in Egypt. The writing is clean and direct with very little flourish. Historically, she is spot on and should be commended.

The book deals with reincarnation and Waters offers her own feelings on the subject through her characters, flushing them out, trying to dig through the 'what ifs' as Maya tries to decide whether or not her journey should end, or if she should continue the path. I enjoyed the stories within the story and the guides at the end of each story were helpful.

I would have given 5* had it not been for a few issues I had when reading the book. I felt both the prologue and the epilogue were unnecessary and took away more than they complimented. After reading the epilogue, especially, I felt as if I'd read a few short stories and they were being tied up neatly for me by some editor, leaving very little room for excitement for the second installment. I think the epilogue could have been broken up into smaller pieces at the end of each of the four stories, and it would have blended seamlessly. The way it appears at the end feels jarring and anti-climatic.

Overall, Infinite Sacrifice is not only a great read laced with committed characters and vivid scenery. As a huge fan of historical fiction, I'd recommend this novel.

Interesting idea of reincarnation continuing on and on. Though I don't believe in that theory the story's plot made for decent reading.
