2.0 out of 5 stars Unstated assumptions and baseless conclusions
I provided an extra star for the pretty pictures.
However, one of the illustrations is telling. The diagrams of solar-system atoms showing electrons in neat planetary orbits made me wonder who the book is targeted to. Certainly not anyone with a basic understanding of atomic structure.

But the real problem is with broad, sweeping unsupported conclusions...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Uncreated Infinite Universe vs A Created Big Bang Universe, September 21, 2011
This review is from: Infinite Universe: Quantum Physics of Infinity (Kindle Edition)
Einstein's theories, and considerable data marshaled in support, indicate space is curved. This curvature is not in the form of a perfect circle, but is a curvature which continues to curve and spiral in upon itself; exactly as predicted by quantum physics, quantum gravity, and the string theories of Pythagoras. Spiral galaxies, hurricanes, whirlpools, and even sea shells, repeat these spiraling patterns. Pattern analysis and the detection of hidden patterns is a fundamental concern of physics. According to some of the authors of this text, there are patterns which repeat infinitely; from infinitely smaller to infinitely larger.

It is difficult for small minds to grasp the concept of infinity. The nature of the human mind seems to require beginnings and endings. Most religions capitalize on these limitations, and therefore we are told the universe had a beginning and was created and the creator was a god. A universe which has a beginning is comforting and does not place undue demands upon the intellect. A universe which is magically created from nothing, or from a "singularity", in a big explosion, is a good story; even a child can appreciate its dramatic simplicity.

The child is the father to the man. The limitations of the human mind limit our ability to grasp the true nature of the cosmos. Our understanding of the universe cannot exceed our ability to understand.

Science is also like a democracy. The theory with the most votes (the most support) is deemed the winner and is labeled TRUTH. Yet most voters are not very intelligent. They are average. Science, therefore, becomes like "mountain climbing", and no matter how skilled the best climber, the team can only go as fast, as its slowest member. Therefore, theories that exceed the mental abilities of the mob which make up the democracy known as "science" are rejected and voted down.

The history of science is a violent affair. The history of science is also mired in religion. When accepted beliefs are questioned, there is often a histronic, violent reaction by those who wish to defend the status quo. Never mind that those defending the status quo do not understand what they are defending.

The four chapters in this text were peer reviewed and accepted for publication by a team of executive editors who are staunch supporters of the theory of The Big Bang. The publishing company which published this book, has for the most part published books, scientist-authors, and scientific articles which support the theory of the Big Bang.

This book was published because it is based on hard science and offered plausible alternatives to the theory of the big bang. Its a rejection of religion. A rejection of magical thinking. A rejection of the supernatural. This text examines some of the major flaws in the theory of the Big Bang, and utilizes Einstein's theory of relativity, quantum physics, quantum gravity, and the string theory of Pythagoras to proposes alternate explanations for the nature of the universe. One of those explanations is the universe is infinite.

There is nothing magical, supernatural, or mystical about an infinite universe; except in those minds which are too small and too child-like, to grasp these mind-bending concepts.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Attack on Religion Masquerading as science, September 20, 2011
This review is from: Infinite Universe: Quantum Physics of Infinity (Kindle Edition)
There are two major scientific viewpoints on the nature of the cosmos, 1) The Big Bang, which is based on the Bible, the story of Genesis, and 2) An infinite Universe. These authors debunk the mystical, magical foundations of Big Bang theology, and provide considerable scientific evidence, based on quantum physics, indicating the universe is infinite and eternal. The authors call the "Big Bang" religion masquerading as science.

Naturally, the acolytes of the Big Bang religion, attempt to discredit anyone who questions their religion, by engaging in name calling, lies, and distortions, for example, by claiming that critics are pushing a religious or mystical alternative, when in fact, the Big Bang was proposed by a Catholic Priest, a Bishop and member of the Pope's Council of scientists. The Big Bang was proposed to make the Bible scientific.

Those who believe the universe began with a big bang, are pushing mystical, supernatural explanations which have no scientific basis. Why should the universe have a beginning? Doesn't a creation event, imply a creator? An infinite universe has no creator and does away with the mystical nonsense that pervade big bang theology.

I provided an extra star for the pretty pictures.

However, one of the illustrations is telling. The diagrams of solar-system atoms showing electrons in neat planetary orbits made me wonder who the book is targeted to. Certainly not anyone with a basic understanding of atomic structure.

But the real problem is with broad, sweeping unsupported conclusions ... For example, because there are countless natural forms of spiral structure found in nature, therefore the universe as a whole must exhibit a spiral nature.

Mystical arguments in an attempt to provide a world-view free of western religion.

Sorry, I can believe in the big bang (if that turns out true), generated by a random quantum fluctuation ... Or the collision of multi-dimensional branes ... Without any theology or mysticism.
