There is a hint of similarity to The Blind Side, although there is never a whiff of any ulterior motive in the actions of the people who are trying to help a young man in desperate need, and Alex was always driven to achieve something better than what life handed him. I thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommend this book.
If you truly want a sense of what life is like for others less fortunate, and to read of the grace of God in someones life, then I suggest you read Infinitely More.
