I researched half a day online for the best affordable flat iron and this is a winner.

It gets very hot quickly and you just glide your hair through - you don't even have to do it slowly (provided you use small segments of hair). And, the shine it creates in my hair is amazing.

These plates are solid ceramic, not just ceramic-coated, so it distributes heat evenly.

I have very coarse, wavy, frizzy hair. I was resigned to just cut my hair all off until I came across this flat iron.

I never thought I'd say this but, I LOVE my hair now.

Overall I would have to say this straighterner is a very good product. I have been straightening my hair for almost 10 years, and this is by far the best straightener I have used. The plates are smooth and glassy (being ceramic and all) and they heat up evenly and do a great job. Also because they are so smooth and do not get hot spots and scorched or burnt, any residue from styling product is so easily cleanable (I used to have major problems cleaning the gunk off my metal plated straighteners). I have used numerous other straighteners that snagged (in spaces between the plates), broke and damaged my hair, and since using this my hair looks so much healthier and I have fewer split ends and less heat damage. My only regret is that when I bought this I did not realize that it came in a 2 inch size, which I most certainly would have purchased instead since the 1 inch size is so small and takes longer to use (the reason for the missing star). I highly recommend this product even more than some straighteners I have bought from beauty supply stores.

I have been using this product for about 3 months now. It has been working very well with my hair. There was just once I burned my forehead while using this product, but that was because my hair was too short and I was trying to make it straight :)

Overall this is a good straightener, better than my previous VS one. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a hair straightener.

I've previously had two vidal sassoon straighteners, and after they both "passed on" I decided to try something new. What attracted me to this one was the great price, and the ceramic plates (heat faster and more evenly with less damage to hair.) So far I am pretty happy with it. It heats up ridiculously fast and can get HOT. They don't say instant heat for nothing!

The only cons are that it doesn't quite get my naturally curly has as straight as my previous straighteners, although if I put pressure on the back of the plates themselves (versus the handle) it does seem to work better and the heat/power buttons are pretty sensitive. I can't count how many times I've accidentally turned it off by touching the wrong spot on the handle.

I purchased this today and I am amazed by the results. I was a little skeptical at first, given that it was only $34. I have very long, thick hair and the temp on this thing gets way up there which works amazing with my hair. I was able to cut the time it takes to straighten my hair in half! Hair is Silky smooth and does not burn your hair on the high setting. I also like that it is a little wider than most flat irons, but definitely works best for hair like mine. I would definitely reccommend this iron!!!!! :) I also really like there is a safety, heat guard that goes with it to place over the iron when its heating up and also works as a stand. BUY THIS PRODUCT! dont waste your money on those other expensive ones.

I'm in love with this iron, it cuts time in half for me to straighten my natural kinky-thick african american hair. It didn't cost me much and due to this economy, that's a wonderful deal. I do not need to use it eveyday, however I think that it will last me for awhile. It has a 5 year warranty on it that will be honored by FOLICA. Though, the color in the picture is not accurate, it still has this cool burgandy-red looking hue. I also like that it can reach up to 445 degrees, the 1 1/2" inch plates gets close to my roots with ease, it doesn't smoke that bad on it's high heat setting, and last, but not least...there is hardly any residue on it's plates after use! ;)smiles!

I received this straightener as a gift 4 1/2 years ago and it has never let me down! I used it all the way through high school with no problems whatsoever, while my friends who spent fortunes on Chi straighteners were replacing theirs every 6-12 months. It heats evenly and VERY quickly, perfect for someone who doesn't want to waste their time waiting for it to heat up. Hair product gunk doesn't stick, and it doesn't get gross burnt spots on the solid ceramic plates. It really gives my hair a great shine, without using any product. I can have my wet hair in a ponytail overnight and take it out in the morning and this straightener works wonders on that little bump that the hair tie leaves. It is easy to use, the heat settings are perfectly spaced, I never find myself wishing that there was a setting between any two of them. I have let friends use it while getting ready to go out and I always get compliments on how great it is. I own the 2" version and it literally takes me 3-4 mins to straighten my hair. The 5 year limited warranty is awesome as well, although I doubt I'll be needing to use it, this thing is rock solid. I also love the heat resistant pouch that comes with it, it comes in handy when I travel and need to throw it in my bag right before I leave to catch my flight. No need to wave it around to help it cool down, just stick it in the pouch and you're ready to go. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

This was not the best in the world. The chi works better, but costs double the price of this item. I bought this to use temporarily till I got another chi. It is NOT good for girls with outrageously thick and curly hair. I would recommend this to girls and/or guys with easy to straighten hair. But all and all, this was a good purchase. It served its purpose, but it was just a little slower at straightening my hair than I thought.

I have typical African American relaxed hair and a good flat iron is essential to my hair styling arsenal. For years, I've purchased the $20 products from my local beauty supply but after a recent bout with defective irons, I decided to try a higher quality product. I looove this iron. It glided through my hair with no snagging and I only had to go over each section once. It also gave me the option of having completely straight hair or curls. I can't speak to the durability yet, but I love the initial performance.

My hair is pathetic! I used to hate it expecially with my old straightener. I hated my old straightener! It took forever to heat up and didn't even do a good job. Then I found out about this straightener because of my cousin. She has it and her hair was always perfectly straight! Then I figured "Hey, lets give it a shot!" So I bought it, tried it, and fell in love with it! My hair was never that straight before! Now I love my hair!

What I think really is the best part about it is that there are 4 different levels of temperatures you can put it at. The lowest is 310, then it goes to 330, then 360, and last for that hard to straighten hair, 395. I like to put it at 395. This was the best product I ever bought for my hair!
